I wondered if anyone else had an issue with standard cake boxes of most sizes being quite shallow? I find most cakes I make exceed the height I am able to put in a box. For example I quite like making individual cakes for people (6" usually) but the boxes I have seen for 7" cakeboards are only 3" tall which doesnt suit! I like at least 1 layer in a cake sometimes 2 if its a mud cake and need taller boxes! I have checked ebay and cannot see deep boxes! Any help appreciated icon_smile.gif

I get boxes from Walmart for stuff like this. They aren't pretty, but they are sturdy and do the job of safe transport, which is the important part really. Plus, they are like 50 cents.

Most cake boxes come in even sizes. But, the tallest I have seen available for purchase has been 6" high. Most major packaging companies that offer boxes have them either 5, 5.5 or 6 inches.

http://www.brpboxshop.com/ is a great resource for bakery boxes of all sizes. I really like their 5" and 6" tall boxes.

If you don't care about beauty, only function you could use 2 boxes. Cut the bottom from one box and the top off another. Stack them one inside the other and tape together. Your box will be double the height.

I buy 5" boxes and tape the sides open, so that there is someone of a protection on the cake but the top isn't going to touch the cake.
