I am making a cake with buttercream frosting and fondant decorations( it is not covered with fondant just decorated with fondant pasiley decorations.). Can I refrigerate the cake after I make it. I did not know how the fondant would do after it came out of the refrigerator. I was worried that the fondant would melt due to the refrigeration.Or should I just put the fondant decorations before I take the cake. My cake is not covered with fondant. Please help me!!!!
So the cake is buttercream, and you have a few fondant decorations to put on? I'd put them on at the last minute, in case the colour bleeds into the buttercream, or that the fondant gets soft and sticky.
Fondant doesn't like being in the fridge and it would probably ruin your decorations if you put it in the fridge after you'd put the fondant decorations on. Maybe put them on at the last minute so you don't have to worry?
Most of my cakes are buttercream with fondant accents and I have never had any problems refrigerating them when I had to. I have never had problems with bleeding or stickiness either.
