Hi there!

I was wondering if someone could help me out. I was asked to make a cake with a "Cheetah print" I've never done one before, and I really don't want to mess this up,lol.
Could someone kindly tell me how to "paint" that on? or what's the easiest way of achieving a cheetah print?

i've never done it before, but i do want to point out that sometimes people say "cheetah print", but they really mean "leopard print"

If you're going to paint it on fondant you'll want to mix your colors with a little vodka or vanilla extract. I prefer alcohol cause it seems to dry faster and gives me something to drink while I'm working icon_wink.gif Then just do the pattern that you prefer like the previous poster mentioned icon_smile.gif

I did it with fondant before. I just tore off a tiny ball of brown and a tiny balls of black and press them together (black on top of brown), so that you get a random shape. Then stick it to the cake. It really does begin to look like leopard print after you get more and more pieces on the cake. It's really easy also.

I painted leopard print using gel coloring and extract as JoanieB recommended. My only suggestion is to pay attention to the background. I think it looks best if you paint the background first with different shades to give it a more natural look. If you look at the pictures that metria posted, they are not one solid color behind those spots icon_smile.gif

Thanks everyone!!

I will defiantly take all these tips and advises into mind when making this cake for the first time.
However, I also read along the lines while searching the net, that celery can also be used as an imprint hmm?? because it has the perfect shape? what do you guys think? icon_biggrin.gif

I just did one using airbrush color. Just painted the brown spots on with a paintbrush first then outlined in black.

Celery sure sounds a lot faster than what I did! Mine took forever. I'd try the celery on a crap piece of fondant. I hope it works!
