If you like to collect cookie decorating books, there is one coming out in November that you may want to check out. I know it's on my list! It's "Ultimate Cookies" by Julia M. Usher. I just wish I didn't have to wait until November to buy one. I saw some photos of the cookie projects from the book, and they are breath-taking!
I would love that book! I love your cookies GeminiRJ! I can't get my cookies to look that way no matter what I do. My RI is always runny or too thick. It's very frustrating!

I don't use RI, I use glace. I find it very easy to work with. I usually mix it to the consistency of white school glue, or honey. For the final outlining, I add powdered sugar until it is the consistency of peanut butter. I've made the icing so many times, I can tell by how the spoon moves thru the icing if I need to thin or thicken. I guess it's a case of practice makes perfect!
I'm going to look for a post I did a couple years ago about how I decorate my cookies, and if I find it, I'll bring back up.
I'll try the glacé. I just have no luck with RI. I would love to read your post on your cookies! If you find it that would be wonderful!
Can't wait; always looking for new cookie decorating books. And I'm with the previous posts, Gemini; looking forward to YOUR decorating book!!
You are all too kind! How fabulous it would be to do a cookie decorating book, but I honestly don't think I have anything new or different to present. And after being introduced to all the amazing decorators on flickr.com, I've realized that there are so-o-o many cookie decorators who are far more talented than I am! But your kind words are greatly appreciated.
I am going to purchase the Ultimate Cookie Book when it comes out. Any other really good cookie books out there now? P.S. Your cookies are beautiful. You should teach classes.
I've pre-ordered this book also - it looks great!
And Gemini - for the record, I'd certainly buy your book!
I just got the new Usher book today and you're right -- it IS fabulous!!! I admit, I wasn't much of a fan of Cookie Swap, but this new book fixed all the errors of the old book and she has some GREAT ideas!!! I can't wait to try them!!
By the way Gemini, I"m waiting for your book -- I want an AUTOGRAPHED copy!!

My husband said he ordered the book for me, but I think he waited until the last minute! The waiting is killing me!
I noticed on Fancy Flours website that they're selling kits of the various projects in the book so you can make them at home. VERY pricey, but what a wonderful idea!
Sorry, you're going to have to wait a very long time for a book of mine! I wouldn't even know where to start. I pitched the idea for a book about my 3D cookies, but after some initial interest, the publisher said no thanks. Sigh.
I pre-ordered the book last week and counting the days until I get it. This book looks amazing.
I got mine yesterday and the cookies are gorgeous! Like bobwonderbuns, can't wait to try a few.
Gemini, I'm waiting for your book!!!
DITTO THAT!!! I thought that's what you were about to tell us, that you finally came out with a book.

I wish. Only in my dreams!

I want your book too Linedancer!!!
Just a quicky update here -- I bought the tiara headband cutter and the turkey/peacock cutter from Fancy Flours and honestly, they are VERY cheaply made. The tiara cutter is soooo flimsy that I'm going to make a template instead. They are made from tin, but I have tin cutters that aren't that flimsy. They are very thin, less than 1/2 inch thick and don't hold their shape at all. Please understand, this isn't a bad reflection on Fancy Flours, I don't think she made them. It's a bad reflection on whoever did make them. I've bought tons of other stuff from Fancy Flours and have been happy with all the rest of it. Just be aware that the Julia Usher cutters are incredibly cheaply made and in my estimation not worth the money.
Oh, bobwonderbuns, you are going to wait a long time on a book from me, but you can come visit me again!! I am not getting notifications of new posts for some reason. Don't you just hate it when that happens?? Thanks for the heads up on the cheaply made cutters. I think I am going to try the necklaces for one of my fair entries this year. They are gorgeous!!
I finally got notification from Amazon that my order has shipped! I can't wait for the book to show up!!! I was beginning to wonder...
Woo hoo, it showed up yesterday!!! It's got a ton of information in it, along with the most amazing photos! It's already got me thinking of some new projects to try, ones that I had put on the back burner ages ago. Nothing like a fantastically creative cookie book to get me excited to decorate! If you haven't checked out this book, DO it!
