I actually have the next two weeks off before my Fall Cake orders take me over again. I have some figurines I could be working on this week but I'm making myself take time off...harder than I thought that would be! LOL!

I'm off today! Had 3 cakes last weekend... I though my head was going to explode because I also work a full time job. So just relaxing and looking at other peoples cakes!

I am looking for ideas for an upcoming halloween party. I'm thinking spiced apple cupcakes injected with caramel and a cinnamon buttercream or maybe a caramel buttercream. And maybe a pumpkin cake in the shape of a pumpkin- I've been wanting to try the 2 bundt cakes together look.

I have 1, four tier wedding cake tonight. Using the Cricut to cut flowers out of wafer paper now. I love the look of the wafer paper flowers. They look almost like organza.
Had event with the Dessert Truck yesterday and today and have another small event tomorrow. It's a polo match. I've never seen a polo match except is the movie, Pretty Woman.

I've finished three birthday cakes for tomorrow:

1. a peanut butter chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream frosting and peanut chocolate ganache. I decorated it with a sugarpaste Adirondack chair and open book with white chocolate sea shells scattered about. The cake sits on a cedar wood slab to complete the rustic look.

2. yellow peach butter cake with peach mousseline filling, covered in white chocolate ganache and white chocolate fondant and decorated with an fondant eyelet band and sugar paste flowers.

3. coconut cake with coconut buttercream filling, vanilla orange mousseline frosting and stenciled buttercream damask design around the sides and birthday girl's monogram stenciled on top.

I've tried to upload pictures but with no success. Perhaps there's too much traffic!

I'm working on a cake for my parent's 50th anniversary. My dad wants a cake that reflects a car hop (where they went after the courthouse ceremony). It's a 3D car cake with the couple in the car, the year 1961 as the license plate number, streamers with wee roses on them coming out the back of the cake. The middle streamer will have a small one tier fondant cake. The roses reflect what was on their cake and the overall color scheme is scarlet and gray to reflect his love of the Buckeyes. The car hop is also represented by a tray hanging from the door of the car. I'm having issues with a stubborn windshield that doesn't want to stand. icon_sad.gif

When this is finished, I have to make buttercream and ganache for an oval basket cake due Sunday.

The Jack O Lantern cake using two bundt cakes is really really easy to do! Have fun!

I have to come up with a cake for our own Halloween party this year..the theme is Soda Fountain so I'm sure I'll be doing something around a sundae or records or something...just have no idea what!

Leah, let us know how your event goes! Good Luck on it!!! So excited for you!

I finished a cake with Shrek and Fiona this morning. It is just a simple sheet cake. Nothing else for a while as far as bringing in money goes. I have some cakes that I want to try for next weekend this week. But I am sure that I will only get one done. We have a big get-together scheduled at our church next weekend and they are thinking that there is going to be a huge turnout. I want to make at least 2 cakes and a side or two. It is going to be themed Blues and Cruise Jam night. There are already 30 cars signed up to come.

I'm teaching tomorrow out of town so tonight I'm trying to get as much done as possible. The lady wants a "fabulous cupcake" lesson and is paying me big bucks to get it! icon_lol.gif

Catlharper- this may seem likea silly question but will I need to put anything in between the 2 cakes. I'm thinking it needs to be supported but I'm not sure.

Jules, sounds too cool...love oldie cars!

Does anyone else teach around here? I've had people ask me if I teach lessons...do I need anything special if I decide to do this or does my license cover me? I flirt with the idea of it from time to time but haven't committed to anything.

I don't know if it's "needed" but I did. I wanted to make it easier for me to serve so I put a cake board in between. then I just divided the cake at cutting time and cut each as it's own cake. I did not put in dowels in the bottom layer tho' so I'd have to guess it's not needed.

the pastor said as a statement I am wondering where we will put everybody if that many shows up? They are thinking that as many as 500 might come. We do not have the kind of facilities that would handle that many. We do this as an outreach to the local communities and evangelism efforts. They are usually fun. I love cooking so I enjoy it, but this time I think that funds are going to be a little more limited so not sure how much I will really be able to do. It is supposed to be outdoors so that will not be as big a deal, but still a large # for our church. I too, love oldies, It should be really fun.
