So, Lauren, I'm curious. Are you an employee of the Food Network?

So what if she is? Maybe she's sticking up for her friend RBI who in all reality, would sweep 99.999 percent of the people on here under the rug with anything he did, be it cake, pastry, or ballet dancing related.

I was a little disappointed, but I'll keep on watching. You can always learn something new, and since the participants chefs will be different all the time, I won't be bored.

For anyone who cares, this is a blog written by Rebeca, his "Operations, Etc." person (as she calls herself). I like it a lot.

So I'm the only one that liked it? I think RBI is funny as hell. I think the show is a little kooky but it's fun. But then again I am a sucker for those competition shows, I happen to love them and DVR them all.

I agree with you completely. As I said, I was just curious. I wasn't implying anything one way or another.

So disappointed. I thought the show made Ron Ben Israel look bad. It's just Chopped with desserts. Not watching again. We need a show where Ron Ben Israel shows us his unbelievable talent! Then I'll watch again.

I'm very ready for the Food Network to get back to some instructional shows instead of all this game show crap. They've nearly ruined Challenge, IMO, and now this. What's wrong with a simple, instructional show that showcases his - Chef Israel's - talents??

I imagine that the network has more viewers with these challenges I'm beginning to hate them, and RBI does not want to give his talent away for free. He has enough talent to do several shows without giving away his trade secrets. I'm sure the Food Networkbrecruited him and felt this was the best way to use him?

Look, what gave anyone the idea this was a teaching show? I watched the same commercials on the Food Network as you did - not once did did it show Ron baking or decorating a cake, nor did it show anyone baking or decorating wedding cakes. It clearly was a competition show. They posted on Facebook what the show was. They wrote a blog post about it. Are all the haters really that dense that they thought it would be something that it wasn't out of wishful thinking?

For such an icon in the cake world, Ron gives more for free to the community and has opened up his shop for all to see more then any other cake artist I know. He gives more info about his business then most of the people on this forum, from his recipes to demo videos posted online, as well as teaching classes and being available to the general public. Bottom line, he rules and he could eat any of our lunches.

Take what you can get from him and be happy with that, because complaining that he isn't teaching you how to make his cakes FOR FREE is just plain ridiculous. If you don't like the show, don't want to watch another competition show, or don't like his character, you have a little button on your remote that changes the channel. But please refrain from complaining about HIM further because he can shut us out, and that would be a real disservice to the caking community as a whole. We need him, but he sure as hell does NOT need us.

The Food Network has a nasty habit of taking something (or someone) that becomes popular and beating you over the head with it (or them) until you're unconscious. They did it with Emeril, they did it with Rachel Ray (who I used to like, now I'm sick of), they're doing it with Paula Deen and Bobby Flay and these stupid Food Challenge shows and competitions. It starts out fun and different then they just start grinding them out. It shows lack of creativity on their part. Kind of like all those CSI or Law and Order franchises. Come on people!

I'm sure she does have an account. You know who else used to have an account? Duff, Buddy, Mary Alice, Ashley V....more I'm sure. It was interesting to hear from them. I certainly don't worship any of them, but that's neither here nor there. Not that being super busy isn't an excuse in itself, but I'm sure they got sick of the whining and complaining about how they did their things too, and quit posting. Waaaah! Buddy sucks! Duff got his money from his daddy! Ashley's boobs are hanging out! Who cares? Shut it!

I wish I had employees as loyal as cakegirl, that said, people are entitled to their opinion, if they want to say they don't like the show they have every right to say so. It was never meant to be an instructional show, they know that now, they can choose to switch their tvs. This is the best place to express diverse opinions. He is on tonight. I'm watching, Happy caking everyone!
