Sweet Genius is a sugar-packed competition series that challenges America's premier pastry chefs to create magical and inventive desserts given inspiration, surprise ingredients and a finite amount of time. The chefs must compete in three unique pastry challenges judged by Ron Ben-Israel (pictured above) the Sweet Genius himself who will critique their work and determine who will receive a $10,000 cash prize.

I don't see the show in our Canadian listings for tonight, so I guess it may be another one of those shows we either have to wait months to see or we may never see up here! icon_sad.gif Hope it is a great show...I love Ron Ben-Israel! Will be waiting to hear what everyone thinks of his show.

I watched it. I was kind of disappointed in the show. I know I am not a gourmet cook, but most of the desserts they made were not anything I would ever make or that my family would eat.

It really was just the dessert round of Chopped except with just one judge.

Just my opinion. I probably will not watch it again.

I watched part of it (I was also watching Project Runway) and I was disappointed. I thought Israel was pretentious and I had a hard time taking him seriously (I mean I wanted to laugh, he came off soooo silly). The last two desserts were well done, but on the whole, I think it's just another Food Channel Challenge show with something weird as an ingredient and I am sick of those shows.

Just my opinion of the show (not a comment on Israel's caking talents).

Ron is on of the gold standard creators of sugar flowers, in my opinion. It's a crying shame that they have him and are wasting him in one of their food themed game shows. They should use him as the host of a weekly 1/2 hour instructive show. Then we could actually learn something from him instead of this silliness.

Was so looking forward to it but also disappointed. Why is the goal of all these judging and challenge shows to first of all be so ridiculously serious --- it's FOOD for cryin out loud. Enjoy it. Smiling is not a sign of weakness! Neither are compliments. Did Israel have to make one of the contestants taste the other's entry when he didn't do that to anyone else? That seemed unfair and belittling even if one was better than the other. This show like others seem to be more about tearing others down and trying to trick them, instead of being able to enjoy but still judge. I really wish it was better!

i love Ron's work! i dvr'd this, but maybe i won't watch is so i don't get turned off by how he hosts.

I was so excited to watch Ron, was so hoping it would be cake related, I hope in future shows they go in that direction. Such a waste of an awesome talent, and his personality doesn't shine thru. I will continue to watch, I love to bake, but was hoping for more I guess.

He really has a great personality in person. I agree with the previous poster who said it would be better to have him on an instructional show. It's too bad he and/or the Food Network decided to have him portrayed the way he was on the show.
