What are your best selling cupcake flavors? My customers are boring me to death by buying the same three flavors even though I have several to choose from.

Red velvet is my number one seller, hands down. I have a long list of flavors, too, but it is very rare for people to go out of the red velvet, chocolate and vanilla bean comfort zone. Beyond that, strawberry is also popular for me.

Maple bacon...that sounds AMAZING! Is that the flavor of the cake itself? Wouldn't even know how to begin making that.

It's Maple Cake with Bacon Bits mixed in and then Maple Buttercream topped with more Bacon Bits and then a strip of bacon.

My top 3 sellers, are Triple Threat Chocolate, which my daughter developed, Peanut Butter Surprise, and Red Velvet. I don't understand myself, why people are so obsessed with Red Velvet, but they are. I don't sell many fruit flavors for some reason, in my area. CHOCOLATE does the best.
I do a Maple Bacon too. I use maple flavoring, fry bacon and put it in my batter, then use a maple buttercream and top it with a piece of bacon. Men are my biggest customers for these.

This is similar to the recipe I use, then top with crispy bacon (crispy bacon dipped in chocolate or white chocolate for an extra treat!):

If you want a from-scratch cake, then just do a search for "maple bacon cupcake recipe."

Oh I really would love to hear your maple bacon recipe! Is that something you mind sharing? It would be for a work function (I am not baking professionally).

thanks, Dizzy

I did. I was so excited to give them a try! The cupcakes were the worst I've ever tasted. They were sooooo dry and tasted like egg nog!! First time I've ever thrown away cupcakes! The icing recipe is too heavy in my opinion. When I think of a french toast cupcake with maple flavored icing, I think of a more smooth and light icing.... this was very sweet and heavy. I will attempt this again... but much differently! I'll just stick my vanilla cake recipe and add some cinnamon... make a batch of whipped icing and flavor it with maple... I think that will be so much better... my attempt would be to direct it more as a sweet breafast treat rather than a dessert.

Not sure if any one else had other opinions... but you have mine! icon_smile.gif

Hobby baker here. I make French Toast cupcakes for my family, and they love them. My own recipe, and it's my sister's second favorite after chocolate.

I'm pretty surprised at the RV on nearly everyone's list. Since I hate it SO much, I don't even offer it. May have to reconsider . . .

Anyway, Chocolate X 4, Chocolate Chili and Salted caramel are some popular flavors for me.

My most popular is guiness choc cake, irish cream filling with ganache tops. That and WASC...boring but I love the taste of WASC with choc ganache as the frosting. It's actually my all time favorite flavor.

My great grandmother's strawberry cake is also popular with a traditional strawberry buttercream frosting.
