I woke up at 2:00 a.m. last night and suddenly remembered I didn't put meringue powder in my icing. (Isn't that wierd how your brain works?) I haven't used it yet. What will happen? I was just going to use it for decorating. Not for the icing on the cake. I know it is supposed to stabilize the icing. Will my decorations melt? Maybe I shoudl just throw it away. What do you guys think?

What kind of icing is it? I use only buttercream and never put meringue powder in it and it always works just fine.

If you're talking about royal icing then I hope someone else will respond soon.

Sorry, I made buttercream. I don't really like the taste (too greasy). Usually use faux fondant for icing the cake.

No, don't throw it away, it should be just fine. It does help stabilize. If the cake is going to be in extreme heat, it helps keep the shortening and water seperating. But you really should be just fine.
