Hi everyone, I am new, and I am making a cake for my son's first birthday party which is jungle themed (because he is wild-smile)...I was wondering if anyone have any fun ideas...i have went through and book marked a few wonderful cakes here for inspiration...a little info to help...I am new to decorating cakes, and I have the skill of the first two wilton classes...and i am a painter...i guess my question is with those skills what will be the best thing for me to do...i want to wow my guest...and i have about three weeks to practice...
Thanks in advance for any help!!!
Edit: okay i am so sorry, i see this was already posted, sorry for the repeat question, put any ideas will still be wonderful, sorry again...
I made a jungle themed baby shower cake. I didn't have enough time to make my own animals but it turn out ok for being the first cake I ever did for someone. Check out my photo and get some ideas! Good luck!!
okay i love that!!! that's kinda where i wanted to go, and then started thinking about actually molding the animals, or doing a shaped cake just couldnt decide on an animal (my son does climb alot like a monkey...though) what is the "sand" made off?
Do you think it will be terribly hard to try and mold the animals myself?
Thanks for your reply
There is one in my blog..... click the link in my sig and scroll down.. I made it while in course two..
made the animals out of royal icing..all you would need is some pictures the same way you would use color flow basically... but used the bottom (the part touching the wax paper) as the front of them if you know what I mean.
If you wanted to do a shaped animal cake look at the Wilton Animal Crackers pan. I just got it from a friend... and you can make different animals with that. I am going to try it soon.
Have fun!!
It is made up of crushed graham crackers. I got my idea from the 1991 Wilton yearbook. It goes in details of how to make the animals using royal icing. It seems fairly simple, but hey, what do I know. I'm just a beginner !!
So many ideas!!! Thank you guys for adding to my inspiration, now it seems like the hard part is going to be chosing what to do....
scoobam: i didnt think about doing the animals in royal icing, i only thought about fondont or chocolate candies...i like that!!
Thanks!!
Hi there! I did a Madagascar cake with royal icing palm trees. I used straight pretzel rods for the bottom. I got the idea from the new Wilton year book. If you can find it, it has some really cute jungle things in it!
