Had a cake that was well planned out (or so I thought). I had to work overtime the night before it was due so I didn't get home until midnight. I was exhausted when I got up at 4 a.m. to finish the fondant work. While I was putting the cake away, I dropped the banana cake layer and so had to rebake and decided to work on fillings and mix the BC. I added PS to the BC (without sifting) and had to start the batch over. I had so much trouble with the fondant stars that when I was done, I realized that I had accidentally cut into the Wilton practice mat that I 've used for years

Then for some reason (loss of focus, brain fart, call it what you will) I put filling on the top layer. when I realized what I had done, I had to scrap it all off. My 3 layer ended up being 2 layer.... I have never had such a bad cake day! My 11 year old son told me "Mom, I heard you get mad at that cake 3 times! I've never heard you do that before!"
By the time I got it to the party I was an hour late.
