Does anyone know if I can add americolor gel to my white candy melts to cover cake pops?? I want to add electric pink to make them a vibrant color
I use americolor gel and the wilton gels to color my candy melts all the time and they usually come out just fine I just use 1 drop at a time til I get the color I want HTH
gel colors are water based and as a general rule don't work. Candy melts do come in hot pink. However, you can add the color to paramount crystals, melted and then add that to the candy melts and it will work.
Adding too much colour will seize the candy melts (you will need to add a lot to get the electric pink) You need to use either americolor candy colours or the normal gels mixed with americolor flo-coat.
I read that you can color candy melts with icing colors when making candy clay so wouldn't the same trick work here, just in smaller amounts?
In that case, you can add icing color to corn syrup and stir that into the candy melts.
Try a small test batch and see if you can get the color you like!
Americolor makes Flo-Coat that is suppose to help candy melts to take water based colors better. They also have candy colorings.
