hello,
I am making a beach themed cake and i was wondering how to make my waves stiffer (and stay). do i add meringue powder to the piping gel or a mixture of royal icing and piping gel?? Thanks

I used a crusting BC (Sugarshack's- in recipes) and sprayed with Wilton blue spray (since I don't have an airbrush). It worked well (see cruise ship cake)

Just add additional powdered sugar to the icing - and as the other poster said, use SugarShack's recipe. How much more sugar will depend on the recipe you used in the 1st place. Just keep adding a couple of tablespoons at a time, mixing it well until it peaks as you want.

For the sailboat cake in my photos, I didn't use any piping gel at all. I just added a little extra powdered sugar to my regular buttercream recipe. HTH. Good luck on your cake.
