What is CakeCentral.com About?

Thread Starter
There seems to be some confusion as to what this website is about.
CakeCentral.com is owned and run by me, a programmer that has a cake decorating interest. I can count the number of cakes I have decorated on 1 hand. (That number is growing, but still very small)

I am not nor ever intend to be a commerical baker, or cake decorator. I put this website up to create a community to share tips and get ideas.
I have absolutly NO reason to take credit for anyone's work. I am a programmer and I enjoy being online and getting new ideas and info from others online. That is what this community is for. I also wanted the "Real" cake decorators to have the ability to promote themselves. I am currently working on and will be launching a more advanced biography area to post more information about you or your business, and a Yellow pages area so people looking for a cake decorator in there area will be able to find you. All of it will be FREE.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion.

If anyone has any questions, I am more than happy to answer them. You can post here, Private Message me, or email me.

I am absolutely thrilled to be a member here at cakecentral, I just found out about this board from being on Wilton forums. I have done cakes for around 30 years, my mom did them when I was a child and I just seemed to always have been able to. I am self taught but use the Wilton instructions and have actually taught a number of cake decorating classes. I am learning every day, as my business is just picking up here in a new area! Wow the privelege of internet!! Yesterday I followed a link on here to do buttercream transfers, one also to make a cupcake cake, etc.. I practiced and played off and on all day. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS FORUM and the people on here that have already taught me so many "new" lessons. It is appreciated.

Thank you Jackie thumbs_up.gif

I just came across this topic and had no idea. It answered the one question that was in the back of my mind...Who was behind this great web site?
I was moved to learn that you are not really in the business, but you were kind enough to put long hours into the creation of such a helpful website, where experienced and enthusiasts can merge and share tips, recipes, pictures and anecdotes. I'm sure that many new ones have benefited from such exchange, many of whom have already posted their first cake picture!
For me personally it has been an outlet...I LOVE the art of Cake Decorating and being amongst others that share the same interest and love is comforting...I live a very hectic life, I do community work in the mornings, I'm a bookkeeper in the afternoons, I'm a numismatist (handle and sell ancient coins) in the afternoons and evenings also, and am a happy wife who tends to her house. But I try to squeeze in time work on my passion and when I cant', I come to this website to read the new posts, browse the new pictures if any, and if not just go over the same ones again.
Thank you so very much for dedicating your precious time to moderate the site, to contribute to the forums and to look for ways to improve it for our benefit.

Great Job thumbs_up.gif

I read about this website in the Wilton forums. I think that its the best website out there for cake decorators or beginner like me. To me the recipes are great, the photo galleries and wonderful and the discussion forums are incredible. I have learned a lot by readin the forums. First of all I would like to give a big thanks to Jackie for creating such a wonderful site. I also want to thank all the decorators that have posted on this site. You have taught me more than I could have ever learned in a class. My grandmother decorated cakes for many years and I have fond memories of going in her house and always smelling fresh baked cakes. You could say cake decorating is "in my blood"!!! We were only able to work on one project together so you all have given me the much needed advice I am not able to get from her anymore. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. My husband says I'm now obsessed especially when he sees me come in the door on my lunch hour and "check the forums"!!! Once again thank you all!!!! I'm am definately hooked!!!

What can I say Jackie, besides THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! To have taken all your own precious time and energy to put into this website for FREE!! It's just unheard of these days. You have done an outstanding job. I happened across this website will poking around on the internet for some ideas and to look at other cake decorator's creativity. I thought, when I first clicked on the link, "oh yeah... another one of those that you really get nothing from". Gosh, was I wrong!! I have thoroughly enjoyed each and ever time I have come to the website (I pretty much stay logged on all the time now!) I love seeing new topics, pictures, recipes be post everyday... It just doesn't get any better than this. Thanks to all of the members here on the website who take the time to post comments and to help other cake decorators when we have questions in areas in our cake decorating we've not crossed before. I plan to let everyone I know about this website! Again, Jackie, thank you just isn't enough for all the hard work you've done!!
