I found these Wilton's sugar sheets and love them. Can you use them on a cricut machine? Is it the same as the fondant/gumpaste sheets?

How do you get them to stick on the mat? Do you coat a non-sticky mat with shortening or something? Even with a backing, I wouldn't think you would stick a sugar sheet onto a regular sticky cricut mat? (I have a regular cricut expression, not a cricut cake)

There is a great article at www.creativedesignsforcakes.blogspot.com about using icing sheets with the electronic cutters. The icing sheets from icing images are the best for this. I have used them with great success. Follow the tips in this blog. To attach the sheet to the carrier sheet, just tape it in the corners onto the mat. Do not remove them from the backing. Also, do a test cut to get the correct blade depth and pressure setting on your machine. You want to cut through the icing sheet, but not through the backing paper.

When I used the Wilton Sheet, I cut away just the amount I needed from the larger sheet. I did then remove it from the paper backing, and applied a thin coat of shortening to the cricut sheet and the back of the sugar sheet. I had great success with 3/4" lettering with the Sugar Sheet. I have used the Wilton Sugar Sheets with my Cricut Cake. I use original cricut mats and don't peel off the plastic backing from the Sugar Sheets. The blade doesn't cut through the plastic backing so you dont have to worry about contamination from a non-foodgrade pad. I tried adhearing the sheet to the Cricut Cake Mat and I don't feel it works as well. Here is a link to my blog which has pictures of cake I have used this method.
