I am new to this but find this such a valuable site - especially for a new decorator. Does anyone know how to construct the grape clusters or a site that gives you instructions for forming them?? Thanks so much

Hello and WELCOME TO OUR ADDICTION!!
I am thinking that you could just roll your fondant or gumpaste in balls similar size of course and stick them together with dabs of royal icing or water?? I have never made these, although I have thought about it and this was all I could come up with.. Starting at the top of a grape cluster of course. and adding them as you go and letting them dry.. I think maybe you could use some sort of wire as well to keep them together.. And I was thinking to make them look real brushing on some luster dust..
Hope someone else "with grape experience" can help us both!! Can't wait to see some of your cakes!

I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but I've made a cake and used buttercream for the grape clusters. I believe it's in my photos. Just use whatever round sized tip you want your grapes to be and start making your shape, and then kind of pipe some more on top so they're not "flat" looking.

Well, I suppose if it were me, I would buy a bunch of grapes, roll some fondant to resemble the shape and size, use fondant to make the vines or use piped royal or buttercream vines right on the cake. I would experiment with whatever colour you want them to be and colour the fondant and once they were dry, I would use petal or pearl or lustre dusts or combinations of all of these, to get the effect you want.
I don't tend to use instructions, I tend to buy the real thing and try to copy it.
You can buy grape and vine molds at the following sites:

I think that I would roll out fondant into balls and attach to a wire then gruop them to your liking. I think that if you hook the end that is in the ball that will prevent them from losening and falling off the wire

Thank you all. I actually did buy some grapes and tried to copy them that way. I have used sugarpaste (or mixed meringue with commercial fondant) and I have finally gotten the "grapes" to stay on the (cloth covered) flower wire (hooked the end of the wire). My challenge has been to put them together in a way that there are grapes at the bottom without the wires showing as well as getting them close enough together so that the wires aren't that visible. I'll keep trying - thanks for the ideas.
