Sometimes I think the stress will kill me! Just wondering if I continue to do this the "nerves" will go away?

I wonder the same thing.... Everytime I get a new cake order the nerves instantly kick in up until I deliver the darn thing lol

Oh I hope someone tells me it does... going on three years now and I still let out a deep breathe after each delivery...

I had nightmares that my Kiss cake fell over in the middle of the night the night before delivery. I was SO relieved when it was set up, photographed and paid for. Nerves are exactly why I don't do wedding cakes, I can't handle the stress!

It's common to have the jitters when we do something new. Once we become familiar with the new situation (for CCers that might be making a new product line or starting a business) we should feel more comfortable and the "nerves" should go away. If the "nerves" remain, take a look at the underlying issues and how stressed it makes you feel. Are you making cakes beyond your skill set? Did you start a new business but don't feel comfortable being your own boss? A little stress is okay. But a lot can interfere in your well-being. For me it was making wedding cakes. I never got used to dealing with bridezillas. Eventually I stopped making these cakes and felt a huge sense of relief.

Give yourself time to adjust to a new situation. If the jitters remain post again and ask for help. That's what we're here for.

I get nervous every time I have to deliver a cake, especially wedding cakes. I guess the nerves will always be there no matter how long you've been doing this!

I get nervous every single time I deliver a cake. I super support them but when I hit a bump my heart races. I live in NYC.... Pot hole and slam on your brakes central. I don't think those nerves will ever go away!

I honestly don't think the nerves will ever go completely because you just don't know for certain that what you have produced and created is exactly what the customer wanted. What they show you or describe to you is almost never what they see in their minds eye! But as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! LOL x

I think when you stop being nervous, you can start making mistakes. It's the 'nervous' that keeps me checking and double checking.

I get extremely nervous, I havent done but a few wedding cakes, I had one this past weekend, a three tier, I am way to chicken to transport already stacked, so I put it together at the event, I was at the church social hall, stacking the cake, and had about 20 on lookers, It made me even more nervous. I would love anyone who does wedding cakes to create a forum with tips and bits on wedding cakes, they really make me nervous.
