hi! I am making cupcakes for a coffee-themed baby shower. One flavor will be dark chocolate cupcake with whipped peanut butter icing. The other I am using my espresso ganache buttercream icing, but can't decide which cake flavor to use with it to keep with the "coffee" cupcake. I am already using a chocolate one, so I was thinking a butter yellow cupcake? What do you all think? TIA!

I think white chocolate or french vanilla would go great with your icing...which sounds delicious, BTW!

Try the white velvet from CC recipes. it's a really mild chocolate flavor, and it goes great with coffee flavored frosting... it isn't overly chocolate...tastes like a great white cake with a hint of mocha.

I'm thinking vanilla bean should be the best option. Any good vanilla bean recipes?

I was thinking a butter cake brushed with a kahlua simple syrup would compliment both the chocolate and espresso.

I'm with suzieQ-cinnamon would be great as it goes well with both coffee and chocolate.

First thing I thought was a caramel flavored. Going for a caramel macchiato kind of feel

Yes, it's something I kind of concocted. I was going to do just espresso ganache at first but then wanted it a little fluffier so I made a small batch of BC and slowly whipped the ganache into it and YUM!
