I tried to mold a peacock out of RKT and could not get the head to form with the neck, so I had to do them seperately. But when I put the fondant on it the head fell off. So I tried to mold the peacock of out fondant but could not get the right shape. Then I tried to get an egg shape styrfoam to see if that would give it the right shape, but it looks aweful. icon_cry.gif

Can someone give me some help on trying to form a peacock body out of any type of medium, please.

I'm going to do two later today using RKT.
I always use purchased RKT as I think they're stiffer.

When you are shaping a bird out of fondant, I use a 50/50 fondant/gumpaste mixture. Take a ball size (larger than a golf ball, smaller than a baseball) and knead into a smooth ball shape. The elongate it slightly to look like a russian nesting doll and gently take your thumb and index finger and make a circular motion on the top third part making a neck. A third of the mixture will be above the thumb, the rest below it. This is the neck of the bird. Then shape as you like it. It's at this point I form the beak, eyes and start to give feather indications. Let dry completely (1-2 days) before continuing with the feathers and tail. Good luck!! icon_biggrin.gif

I decided to try another RKT peacock and so far so good. Did put a dowl in the nect area and am waiting for it to dry before I apply the fondant on Saturday. Thinking that by Saturday it should be super dry. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the advise, gave me the push to try the peacock again.
