Dizzymaiden: I went to your blog and couldn't find how to make your own coffee liqueur and so I put it into the search and it came up with no results. maybe you can tell me how or what I click to get to it. I know it is on there if you sent me there. So I am just not looking for it in the right place. Thanks.

Jules, it's about halfway down the page, right before the picture of the lady in the dress.

Thanks Annie...sorry about that sometimes I start posting stuff and forget that to tell people to use the search box. I am in the process of reorganizing my blog for better search results. It is not easy to keep a blog, bake cakes, work full time and ...zzzzzzzzzzzz

Thank you Annie. The weird thing is the first time I went to her blog it would only go so far and it just stopped. I don't know if it just needed time to load or what and it only went part of the way. WHen I went back I kept scrolling up and down and finally went down further than I had been able to go before and there it was. I found several girls in dresses in the pictures so I just kept looking and was able to go far enough down this time. Thank you so much Dizzy maiden for sharing this with us and posting it.

The strawberry lemonade is a strawberry cake batter and lemon cake batter swirled together. Then for the filling, I use lemon curd (either homemade or from a jar) and a strawberry cheesecake filling (bettercreme whipped with cream cheese and juice from frozen strawberries or fresh strawberries pureed.) Hope that makes sense!

so for the 2 fillings do you torte the cake into 3 pieces and put one fiilling on one layer then cake and the second filling on the next layer or do you not torte it at all and put both fillings between the 2 layers of cake? This sounds really yummy. really, really yummy!! I am one that tends to like the tart and the sweet so to me this sounds divine. will look forward to hearing how you put it all together as far as the 2 fillings go. Thanks.

jules5000, I usually torte each layer once. I put a thin layer of the lemon curd on first and then the strawberry cheesecake filling on top of that. I've gotten where I usually use the jarred lemon curd because I really can't taste a difference. It's pretty thick so it's easy to spread that on first and then put the other filling on top of that. So each layer of cake has both fillings.

dlcamp, how much cream cheese and bettercream do you use approximately. I have something similiar to better cream so I know what you are talking about, but just would like to get an idea of how much you use and also I know you may have already told me, but what icing do you make for this cake? There have been so many flavors swirling around in my brain I want to make sure that I write it down. ANd that is what I am trying to do. THank you.

jules5000, this past weekend I made this cake and with a cup of liquid bettercreme, I added 4 oz. cream cheese and half a package of cheesecake pudding mix. That made enough filling for a 12 x 16 inch cake. I use my usual buttercream recipe which is Buttercream Dream by AgentCakeBaker in the recipes section. I've thought about adding a little bit of lemon extract to the icing for even more lemony flavor, but haven't tried it that way yet.

dlcamp, one more question and I think that I have a recipe for this strawberry lemonade cake. How much strawberry puree or juice do you use with your strawberry cheesecake filling? is it just till it looks right and the right thickness? or is there a specific amount you use? thanks again.

dlcamp, for some reason or another they have taken agentcakebaker's buttercream dream out of the recipe file. I put it in and there is a doctored buttercream dream in which the girl who posted it said that she combined agentcakebakers recipe and indydebbies. Would you by some wild chance send me the one you use. the original one? thanks.

I add enough strawberry juice or puree till it's the thickness I want. You could also use strawberry jam.

Buttercream Dream (by AgentCakeBaker): 1 stick unsalted butter, 1 stick salted butter, 1 cup shortening, 1 T. clear vanilla, 2 lbs. powdered sugar, and 4-6 T. cold milk. Mix softened butters and shortening with liquids; beat in powdered sugar.

Thank you dlcamp. I have a question though. I use a recipe most of the time that calls for the same amount of fat, but has 4 lb. sugar to it. Is this icing from the start a spreadable frosting on the cake? I always have to add more water to mine to spread on the cake. I like the flavor though. This one you gave me uses half butter and half shortening. I will give it a try sometime soon. Ok, ok, ok, I said just one question, but some others came to mind. how does it hold the designs you pipe? does it soften quickly because of the butter? the reason I am asking the last 2 is I live in a very humid climate(MO) and we can have some pretty intense summers here. I am not particularly hot blooded, but just wondering how it holds up in hot weather and if you have to refrigerate it because of the butter? Thank you so much for all of your help and patience.

jules5000, I live in Texas and it gets pretty hot here too! This is the only icing recipe I use. Now granted, I haven't used it for any outdoor events, but it holds up quite well. I usually use the lesser amount of liquid so it spreads beautifully on my cakes and crusts well too. I typically don't refrigerate it and it holds its shape well. I don't do much piping with it other than borders and writing.
