Has anyone done a divorce cake? If so what did you do? Or any ideas? A girl I work with has been waiting to get divorced for a long time and is planning to have a divorce party and asked if I could make a cake for her?

Ideas would be great!

P.S. I've looked through the galleries and on google. I know all you are super creative just wondering if anyone has any other ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Lainey

I've seen a lot of upside down wedding cakes, as well as "wedding cakes" with the bride pushing the groom off, or bridal shower looking cakes with a "I DON'T" on it...hope that gives you some inspiration!

Well, looking on google I just saw a bunch of murdered brides/grooms on "wedding cakes" and a free at last with a ball & chain. It was a pretty entertaining search icon_razz.gif

I made a divorce cake for my sister-in-law, about ten years ago...it looked like a monopoly game board and in the middle really big was a "get out of jail free" chance card- the one with the picture of the old guy flying out of the birdcage- but I changed it so it looked like my SIL wearing jail clothes and a bridal veil. I wish I had a picture of it- it was so funny!

Haha yeah she's been planning this for a while and her divorce is finally final so she's having a party. We'll see what she says i'll show her some of the ideas I find and your suggestions.

Thanks again!

I have a picture (don't know who it belongs to) but the cake looks like a graveyard, and there's a casket being lowered into the ground that has the "head" end open, with her wedding ring in it.

Lolll - for a minute there i thought i was the only one who thought they tacky - icon_lol.gif
And whats worse .......those god awful plastic figures either standing on top of the cake or falling off the side - irkkkkk
I cringe every time i see them on a cake - PLASTIC PEOPLE .... *shudder*
Some beautiful cakes are made - then plastic people are plonked on top -
icon_confused.gificon_rolleyes.gif ........... why anyone thinks that looks good - i will never know.

Blue.

Not the only one Blue - just the only one ballsy enough to say it! But I'm not hating the cakers - only the cakes!

Instead of focusing on the divorce, you could focus on what's next for her. Something based on what her plans are or what she wants to do to move on.

I made my own divorce cake in 1987 for my divorce party, it was a sheet cake with peach roses and it had written on it in large letters "Busting Out!", (LOL). The knucklehead 1st husband wanted to come to the party. icon_lol.gif We parted as friends. We had a blast at the party. I don't recommend divorces and would not care to go thru that again, but it was best for us and we had no children or pets between us.

I second that! That sounds so much better than a typical divorce cake. I have to agree with Blue and Kimmi on this one.
