Hello all. I wanted to know is either of the two worth investing in? Also I have an order for a Crown Royal cake and want to print the label. Any suggestions.

I wouldnt buy either machine for just one cake. On the edible printer, if you just print an image here and there it is really not worth it. You are best off in having someone print for you. THere may be someone local to you or you can order online or off of ebay for the occasional cakes. Edible printers are meant to be used and if you are not using them at least a few times per month, it is not worth the investment. Now, if you will use them regularly, they are awesome and if you invest in an electronic cutter and a printer you can do all kinds of things. I would recommend the Silhoutte over the Cricut. Linda McClure of DeserteDesigns is a saint and will be glad to help with any questions. The silhoutte works with software that allows you to print using your edible pritner and then cut out your design. It is amazing. THe electronic cutters do not require regular use to keep functioning so if you were looking at one over the other, go with the cutter if you do not use it that much.

I agree with icingimages, silhouette is the way to go. I have it as well as the cricut and it's deffinately the way to go. Silhouette also has a print and cut feature if you have an edible image printer. I use Make The Cut software and can cut any image I want without costly cartridges. I also prefer to cut frosting sheets instead of gumpaste/fondant. So much faster, cleaner, and less preperation and I can also print designs on them before cutting. However, all frosting sheets are NOT made equally. I have tried several brands and ONLY icingimages cut clean and don't slide around on the backing when cutting. I trim a little off each side so I can tape the backing to the mat and get perfect cuts every time.

I forgot to mention if you're going to buy the silhouette get it from Linda McClure as she has developed a special blade and housing for gumpste/fondant/frosting sheets. The blades that come with it WILL NOT WORK!

I, too, agree with Debbie and Tiggy!! I have a shop and we print edible images for area decorators, as well as for use on customers cakes. If you're only going to use the edible image printer occasionally, it's not worth the expense. We're averaging about 6-10 a week. I absolutely LOVE the image sheets from Icing Images!! In addition making great images, the sheets are easyto handle.
I have a Cricut and use Icing Image sheets on it all the time. I don't even take the backing off!!
As Tiggy said, all image sheets are not created equal. You will not go wrong with Icing Image sheets and products!! And I swear, I have not encountered better customer service anywhere!!

I don't think they do. But I know we do at our shop (we also ship). But see if you can find a shop in your area that has the system. That's going to be a lot faster turn around for you. Like I said, we use ours a lot....for our own cakes as well as other decorators' needs.

We do custom printing, but DDiva is right, sometimes you can find someone local to you to print. Where are you? Perhaps I have a customer near you that can print for you.
