I need help! I have been baking & decorating cake, cupcakes, & cookies for almost 4 years now & my town does a "Fun Days Trade Days" the last weekend in every month & I have had a ton of people ask me when I'm going to be there! I always answer with a "not sure" or "idk" so now I'm actually ready to do it in September but I'm not sure what to sale, sample, or what?! I know for sure I will do a couple of dummy cakes (wedding, b-day) but I don't know what else to do! So can you help me out? There are no other bakers that work with fondant in my town since it's so small but I'm nervous! HELP!!!!!!

Don't forget to bring a book with pictures of all the cakes you've done (if you have these) It's a great way to show people what you have done and can do icon_smile.gif Maybe you could samlpe some mini cupcakes and choose the two or three most popular flavors you make? Hope it goes well for you!

Hi,
I agree with shuswapcakes, about displaying photographs of your work. So there's no other bakers who use fondant in your area? *Ding Ding!* Theres a gap in the market in your town! Make your dummy cakes with fondant, display nice pictures of your best work, you could make mini sample cookies to hand out. Sample cakes and cupcakes, a variety, simple ones, fancy ones, different flavours, a variety of cakes, bday, wedding, sheet cakes, carved cakes. And do you have buisness cards? It would be a great opportunity to hand them out, they don't need to be over the top, just a simply designed card with your name, email, phone number and address.

Hope this helps! good luck! icon_smile.gif

No other fondant bakers in your area? I'm jealous!! There are far too many custom cake decorators and cupcake makers near me so I'm struggling to find a gap I can fill ha ha!

Anyway, back to the question- I would definately agree with having some of your best photos available for diaplay, as well as business cards. And maybe mini cuppies in your best flavours as samples, with the full size ones available for purchase? icon_twisted.gif

The dummy cakes also sounds like a great idea- so people can see close up what you are capable of- good luck!! icon_smile.gif
