Well there is a giant cupcake tin you can get that would make the shape, it appears to be all buttercream decorations, not sure which tip but I''m sure someone else here will know. icon_smile.gif

The buttercream swirl roses aren't hard, I would be more worried about the royal icing flowers that seem to be cascading down the side. THe roses are just swirls with tip 1M. Start on the inside and work your way around to the outside.

I might leave those off, not sure yet...they kinda make the cake, but it's a spur of the moment they asked for it today and need it wednesday. Said "can you make this or something like it" I might just buy the little ones at Michael's. Are there any tutorials on the roses? I'm nervous about them!

Would I start the rose actually on the cake? Or would it be best to have one of the things you set the flower on and build it up while it's on the wilton flower maker tool?

Iambaker has a tutorial for the roses. Google I am baker rose cake. They are so easy...really! 1M tip. If you can rotate your wrist, you can make these roses! thumbs_up.gif

In answer to your question, you make them right on the cake

It looks like a giant cup cake, I don't know where you are but in England you can get the silicone giant case for about £7, then just use the iambaker tutorial for the roses. im dying to make that cake but just don't have anyone to make it for! It looks really nice on that cupcake though! Lovely cake! I would also be worrying about the flowers on the side lol

I'm going to check Michales, or Hobby Lobby to see if they have them already made (lazy, I know) but I literally got the order today. I already have a delivery scheduled for tomorrow morning, and then I have 18 cupcakes due Monday! AGH!

If I don't need the cake until Wednesday, that should give the gumpaste flowers time to dry though, yea?

Anyone have tutorials for the small flowers? Could you do those with buttercream and a tip?

I made one for a wedding yesterday...without the small gumpaste flowers. I piped the roses on and put a tiny silver ball in the middle I'd each one and a few butterflies dotted around. It doesn't take long at all.
