LOL! I know. I enjoy making IMBC much more than American buttercream. I love not having to deal with that crap all over my kitchen. I even do the little tent over my mixer and I STILL end up with it everywhere.

Me too! Went the eye doctor for a checkup once and he couldn't figure out what was all over my contacts. Thought about it a minute -- yep, ps dust caused a film on them!

I put the wet dish towel over my KA too because I hate it so much. I have also started to put the 5lbs. of ps I need to make Sugarshacks buttercream into a 2 gallon zip lock and then cutting off the corner to feed it into the mixer bowl. I can't stand the mess that much. P.S. I also hate Crisco and Sweetex. Can stand that mess either.

Ahhh... my fellow PS haters! We should form a support group.

Just one of those days... it seems the more steps one takes to keep from making a mess, the bigger the mess. Sigh.

Sugar happens. icon_mad.gif

Count me in on the ps hatin'. My 6 year old son was watching me make buttercream the other day and he kept sneezing from all the sugar in the air. He looked at me asked, "If I breathe in too much sugar, will my nose make frosting?". Ewww!!! LOL Needless to say I quickly adopted draping a damp towel over my mixer while making frosting. icon_wink.gif

Did you all know there is a medical condition called "baker's lung"? It's from breathing in things like powdered sugar, flour, etc. I never heard of it until my doctor told me about it. No joke!

I know I look stupid, but when I make icings, I use a surgical mask.

I was going to post this very same thing! Not long after I started baking, I developed a nagging cough and some other respiratory "problems" I won't disgust you with. thumbsdown.giftapedshut.gif A trip to the doctor confirmed it was baker's lung (he called it flour lung). Now I wear a surgical mask when mixing batters.

I hear you! I hadn't really ever spilled ps on the floor before, but did the other day. Of course, I didn't mop enough, and the sticky got walked all through the house. Then I had to mop the whole place, and the kitchen three times. Yech

Get the Cake out of here! Are you serious? WOW!!

I too am a member of the PS Haters Gang. Whether i'm wearing a apron or not this stuff still gets everywhere and everytime i inhale, I taste ps. But dang, "Bakers Lung" well I too will be using a mask when using this stuff.

To the OP, and other posters; thanks for opening our eyes and lungs to the woes of PS.

That's it!!

Have been having reccurent asthma even though I religiously keep away from dust, fumes and other triggers. Was hospitalised again yesterday and I didn't remember all the powdered sugar I inhaled early in the week...

Surgical mask for me then, thanks to the initiator of this post for bringing this up!!
