Has anyone made there own fondant and colored it black or a really bright color? If it turned out and you were able to use it, how did you make it? Mine fell apart icon_sad.gif

I make my own MMF at home. But, I buy the Satin Ice fondant for black and red.
I just can't make these two colors. But, for all of the other colors, I just add my food colorant once my fondant is done.

I usually make all my own MMF. For black, try making chocolate fondant first.....I use extra dark cocoa by Hershey's and it's a nice deep brown. That way, you only need to add a bit of black.
When you add the black coloring, add it when the marshmallows are melted, it's easier. Same for any other dark or bright colors, add the coloring when it's in the liquid stage.

I recently made black mmf.

I made my mmf as usual then added the coloring later because I had several colors to make.

I used some cocoa powder but it didn't turn brown at all, more like a sand color. Then I added black (used americolor because I read that it was better than wilton's black) but it turned purple. I freaked and googled. I then added some yellow. Sure enough, kept adding some of both until I got a super super dark charcoal grey color/ almost black color. I knew that mmf would get darker as it sat out and sure enough the next day it was black. I wouldn't recommend my method because it was stressful! But I didn't use too much color either, just a bit of both.
