Okay, I want you ladies to be proud of me. Last night I almost placed an order at GSA for stuff that I 'need'...in..the...near...future
Okay, I was highly motivated by their 10-15-20% discount depending on the order amount. However, since I tried to place the order too late in the day the discount didn't work sooooo, I did NOT place the order!!!! Phewwww, I saved $260 !!! thumbs_up.gif

On a side note...in a whispering voice...--all those items are still in my 'wish list'--...shhhhh icon_redface.gif

Awww, good for you--I couldn't resist, even though their website wouldn't take my order with 4 tries, I couldn't take it as a sign that I didn't need $200 worth of stuff and finally got it to go through on my 5th try. I have put myself on punishment.

Yes, when your six year old son yells at you that "you don't need any more cake stuff!" then you definitely have a problem. I just think that I'm channeling my OCD tendencies into something creative and delicious for the good of all mankind! icon_biggrin.gif

I, too am addicted! When I go to the supply shop I deal with I get an adrenaline rush when I go through the door! They display all of the new items they get in each week on the shelves facing the door so as soon as you enter he's gotcha! My husband and I put an addition on our home which included an additional 20' x 30' room downstairs. His question to me, " I wonder what we can use this room for?". My answer to him, "I know!".

Ok after reading everyone's confessions I no longer feel bad about my current thoughts to bug hubby to make me some shelves for my cake stuff in our spare bedroom. I mean after all it is an extra room we don't really need it for anything, and my stuff is starting to fall out the cabinets I have in the kitchen and there may or may not be stuff on the top of the cabinets (I don't know really I mean after all I'm short I can't see the top of the cabinets let alone reach them to put stuff up there.

Oh BTW my name is Jenifer and I do believe I am a cake supply addict

lol, Some very funny stories. I am the same way. I just tell myself if I don't need it for a current cake that I do not need to buy it, unless it is an unbeatable price.

My name is Sue and I'm addicted to everything "cakes"! I just re-arranged my kitchen cabinets so I could store my new square magic line pan sets (that I insisted to myself I had to buy to make 1 small cake for my nephew)! My DH wants to know what I'm planning to do with all the stuff (non-cake) currently piled up on my kitchen table. I have cake toys in my dining room, bedroom closet, laundry room, attic - I'm hopeless!
I shopped at a chef supply store with my son (age 24) and he literally had to drag me out of the baking section while telling me "You have enough baking stuff already!!"
Oh well, there are worse things in life!

What a great topic!

Yes, I have bought & bought. Oh and don't you just get annoyed with yourself when you pop into the cake deco store to buy a $10 item but walk out of there spending $80 instead? !!

And just when you think you've got everything, you find something else you want to make and you need another new toy to achieve that particular look!

I am now also collecting cake stands - and need some shelves built to place them on, so my addiction has now just increased!

Hi, I'm Yvonne...and I'm a crack cake addict.
It started 2 months a go....before this I was scrapbooking and card making. It was hard to stop.
I kept buying everything about scrapbooking, those aren't cheap. I tried so hard to stop...and tried to bake cake something I never did well.
I found good recipe and started decorate.....aaaarrrrggghh...addicted. I have lots of stuffs about cake. And still (feel) need more. I keep saying to myself...one day I'll receive order for cake.

Thank you for this thread, I thought I was alone... icon_biggrin.gif

The funny thing is I started cake decorating because I thought I could never afford to buy cakes like I now make. I could BUY a lot of cakes for what I've spent on cake supplies but it wouldn't be near as much fun!!!

Ellie....just wait until you really have bought everything at Michael's, JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby...your addiction will still rule you as you prowl the aisles of Home Depot and Lowes looking for things that could possible be useful in cake decorating: levels, and putty knives, T-squares and compasses, plastic waffle shelf liners to use as ...oh the horror. The sad truth is that there is no cure for this addiction . Someday we'll all be standing on corners and searching alleys for a cake supply dealer . Yes, Wiltoon is a gateway drug dealer. And GlobalSugarArt is the king pin. The upside is that we won't have to do jail time...just gain weight.

LOL.....so true !!! I started with Wilton, thought their product cute and good enough. Now...hell no, I bought Agbay for professional and I just a hobby baker.

Until I sat down to take a break, I was in my spare room trying to organize all my cake stuff. I didn't even know where to start! I have a hall closet full of cake pans of all sizes and shapes, muffin tins, cupcake tins, cooling racks, and boxes and boxes of cutters, veiners, you name it! I even found myself buying something that I thought was "new", only to find that I already had it buried in my spare room!! So there are a few things that I have duplicates of. I've got it somewhat organized, but sure could use some sort of storage unit to put it in. I'm actually trying to make room in there for a spare bed as my dad's health hasn't been the greatest lately and I need to have a place for him to stay occasionally.....it isn't working!!!! How would have thought you could accumulate so much caking stuff!!!! And an agbay is on my Christmas list...where will I put it?!?!?!!

Definitely a cake supply addict! Well, back to organizing.....

My cake stuffs still fits in 3 big Amazon boxes now...the problem is living space. So, I hide my stuffs under the desk, inside my closet, my oven full with pans...everytime I want to bake ( and very often), I had to pull them out and put in balcony until was done baking that day.
I was thinking to sell all my scrapbooking stuffs, but I canceled. I love them too. I love my cake stuffs, pastry stuffs... icon_surprised.gif

So glad to see I'm not alone. It seems like every week I get myself a "little something". I was so proud of myself this week cause I actually walked out of Michael's without purchasing anything. Never mind the time I spend online looking at stuff. I can't tell you how many I have in the "shopping cart" just in case. Mind you I'm only a hobby baker. I always trying to figure which niece/nephew's birthday is coming up. I need help. Is there meeting for this addiction?

Ya'll have given me the courage to admit that I, too, am a cake stuff addict. Thank you. But I must admit, cakes got me over the candy addiction. Now I'll be handing my 300+ molds down to my daughter who has recently been bitten by the bug. Hey - - I'll have more room for cake stuff!!

I try not to buy a lot of the high dollar stuff and I've been known to raid my husband's tool chest for anything that I just know will help me with a cake. So I guess I'm not completely out of control icon_smile.gif
