Hi there,

A client wants fondant on a tiramisu cake. Is this doable, and if so, does anyone have a good recipe? Thanks!

An actual tiramisu---coffee soaked sponge with mascarpone topping?? No way.

A regular yellow cake with filling and/or icing to mimic the flavors of tiramisu? Sure.

i agree with Rae...there's no way the cake and mascarpone would hold up underneath it

Just use mascarpone icing as filling and ice with buttercream there is a Macscmom WASC tiramisu cake on here somewhere. I'll see if I can find it.
Here it is.
Tiramisu Cake - Macsmom
WASC cake using 1 1/3 c tiramisu coffee creamer + 1 1/3 c water, 2 tsp vanilla + 2 tsp butter flavoring:
Espresso Syrup - MacsMom
2/3 c of water
1½ c PS
5 t instant coffee granules
**I added 2 T Kahlua for an amazing flavor!
In a small heavy saucepan over high heat, combine water, PS & coffee. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Let cool. Poke holes into cakes; brush with syrup.
Mascarpone Filling
1 c mascarpone cheese (from tub)
1/4 c sweetened condensed milk
3 tablespoons Kahlua (or coffee extract)
2 c whipped Frostin Pride

As the others said, there is no way to put fondant on a regular tiramisu cake. Your top is a cheese-cream mixture that is really wet and moist. The moisture would melt or move the fondant. Cake layer on top and bottom with tiramisu filling would work because you have dry cake.. also tiramisu needs to be fridged.... could the design fondant be fridged? Not ideal.
