I agree with Rae. If you ordered something from a store and UPS delivered it damaged, it would be the responsibilty of UPS. You may contact the storebut I believe the store would be contacting UPS for mishandling the package.

In my former life I worked for an internet fulfillment company, I dealt with shipping, and return problems. UPS and FedEx have a $100.00 insurance unless more is purchased by the shipper. So a claim for $100.00 plus the actual shipping would be given back to the shipper.
I too think that the delivery person knew something was wrong, or he would not have taken the picture?

Oh that's terrible! The cake was so gorgeous before the disaster. It seems to me like the driver must have hit the breaks way too hard, causing some boxes to topple over which is why he must've checked up on it. As others have said earlier, he knew something went wrong.. it's not your fault, and you shouldn't blame yourself. Consider it a lesson learned - you can't trust anyone with your cake! They don't realize how crucial it is to treat it with the fragility it deserves because they haven't seen all the hard work that's put into it!

i just don't ship cakes anymore after that... it's not their cake (the courier's ) so what do they care if it's delivered whole or mashed? icon_eek.gif ... & i don't think it was your bc...the courier's mishandling was the problem icon_sad.gif

i am in my way to buy memory foam padding , its 2 meter *90 cm with 5 cm thickness
its expensive , but its a must to have if it will keep my cake from any danger

I am thinking of folding it in layers , put the noskid mat on it , put the cake box in a box and then on the mat >> is that enough ?? or there is something I can do extra ??

regards heat ,, I dont know what to do but I am thinkinf of puting ice cubes between the memory foam pad so it works as a cooler ,,

last night the curior man called me , and he said someone bought the cake ..

what cake ?? the smashed one ?? yes the smashed one , he came and gave me the money for this (x-person)

anyways , here is the place where I put my cakes when I deliver , between the seats :

so if I put the memory foam beneath them it will absorb any vibration ? or should I change the place of the cake box ??

Wafa, you can cut the memory foam into pieces that will fit under the box--one layer will do the job nicely. A piece of no skid under that will keep it all secure.

That spot in the car looks nice & flat--and maybe closer to any air conditioning that may come from the front vents.

I'd suggest having cakes delivered at night, whenever possible, to mitigate the heat & sun of the daylight.

That's great news about the payment for the damaged cake. Maybe the courier had a conscience and bought it for himself and his family! You may have a new customer!

Ray thanks for your idea about memory foam

I will buy it tomorrow , it's a padding not a matress , and yes I will transport my cakes in night much better

I will put more than one layer icon_smile.gif so the cake box keep sturdy

I would never ever hire anybody to handle my precious cargo. I also would never ever agree to a cake delivery 2 hours way in the dead heat unless I did it myself and had a/c maxed out the whole trip.
