OMG- what is wrong with people?! haha im turning my phone off for the rest of the night. geez!
Wow, I would be rethinking my market audience if I got a call like that! That person has a child??
100 cake pops....to clebrate baby getting his first tooth??? That alone would send me running for the hills. LOL
Then, to want them for cheap and ask for freebies, and complain about them not being wrapped too??? Holy Moly!!
hahaha. yeah 2 of them!! omG.
Thank god it's rarer now im getting those kind of calls since upping my price.
WHAT THE FFFFFFFUDGE????
I would LOVE to see this as a youtube video!!!!!!
I've got this childs voice stuck in my head now saying
"puleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!"
BEST LAUGH OF THE DAY!!!! THANKYOU!!
ughhhhhh. it was worse!!!! it reminded me of a spoiled 16 year old trying to get something from her daddy! maybe that crap works on her man but it aint workin on me. weirdo!
Wow!!! I read that and I was thinking please, pleeeaaasssssseeee tell me that isn't a true story. I'm not surprised really. Congrats for standing up and saying no.
I had a lady call me recently. I don't know her from Adam, but she got my number from Michaels because she saw I was offering a cake pop class. So she asked me how much I charged. And I said with a laugh, "a lot". I did go on to tell her that I only do cakes for family and friends, but if I was to charge for them it'd probably be $2 to $3 depending on the design. She was like well I can get them for $1.25 such and such place. Well good for you, I'd go there.
Your cake pops are awesome! What is she talking about? Some people have a lot of nerve!! Geez I'm learning a lot from these threads...
Texas rose, hahahaha have you ever outright said "well buy from them, then?" if so what do they say?
JSK, youre very sweet! thank you! yes I learned almost every reply to every scenario from this thread! but some scenarios you're just kind of in shock and not sure what to say LOL.
Whats weird is she just wrote on my facebook how much she likes me and appriciates how "cooperative" I was. huh? She doesnt think I took her order did she? No.. I made it clear. She's just weird.
That woman sounds like trouble,if you had done them, she would have come back with a complaint, demanding a free cake as compensation.
Wow you are so much nicer than I would have been. SOOOOO much nicer. Yeesh, you should have taken down her info so you can send her a bill for your time.
this made me laugh so hard. thanks for posting. Definitely the customer that you want to run away from as fast and far as you can. Love how she just assumed that you actually need the business that she'd supposedly bring to you. Hahaha!
Wow, I would be rethinking my market audience if I got a call like that! That person has a child??
That person IS a child!! OMG can you imagine her home? She probably got her way all her live, most likely acts the same way with DH. After all, rewarded behavior is repeated. And that poor child! I can't imagine how the child is going to turn out.
I love your final response.

I agreed with this lady. I told her if she could get them for $1.25 from them, then that's what I would do. I had no desire to make them for her anyway.
I had no clue who she was, and she just got my number from a craft store. She didn't even ask me if I sell cakes, seen my cake pictures or anything, it was just how much would you charge for these. So I figured she was bargain shopping.
I have no desire to do cakes as a full time job, but I am also over doing cakes for just anyone at a cheap rate just cause they want something.
I really don't know how you finished that conversation with her with out just flat out saying are you effing crazy!
Yeah..What is it with people...I realize the economy isn't great but some of the requests/inquiries I have had also are just as ridiculous..I am running a business people..not a charity...
I wonder if that ever works for her? Maybe I'll try that with my grocery store: I reeeeeaally want this pound of butter, but I want it for 50 cents. Puuuuullleeeeeeeeeeeeese.....

Geez, wouldn't you LOVE to be able to do that!
OP thanks for the great story!
This is how the conversion would have gone if I had answered the phone,
Ring! Ring!
Me - "Hello"
Customer - "Hello I'd like to order"
Me - "Ok, whats the ocassion"
Customer - "I just got out of the mental hospital, I'd like to celebrate that I'm legally sane."
Me - ".......ok what do you want?"
Customer - "100 cake pops, but I only want to pay 50 pence."
Me - *Clank* followed by dialing tone...........
Customer - "Hello?" "Hello??"
Jam HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!
What can I say i thinkI was in shock...like...not really realizing what was going on combined with my own morbid curiousity.
LMAO@ grocery store. I think she's just the spoiled daddy's princess type? and is now spoiled husband's princess type?
I told my other decorater friend part of the story, and surprisingly my friend said "her name isnt so and so, isnt it? It was! Apparantly she booked my friend a year ago, my friend had to cancel her cake due to an emergency of sime kind, and the woman had actualy called her before me! She told my friend "Well...last year i was so excited about the cake but them you had to cancel on me so now i want another cake but you have to give me a good deal on it now to make it up to me what you did to me last time."
I totally get offering a small percentage off if you feel generous but being asked like that (add baby voice of course) i find a bit rude, particularly when i am SURE she wanted way more than a small discount.
