Well here is the cake I made last night for the baby shower today. (this is my third time typing this out don't know why it isn't showing up in the forum???)The cake is a gooey butter cake with chocolate buttercream icing (1/2 crisco and 1/2 butter I got that from this website!! THANKS I'll never go back to the all crisco recipe!) The blanket and the night cap are MMF. I had a hard time with the night cap my MMF was a little on the dry side as frustrated as I got it was still a great learning experience. My stars didn't turn out as well as I would have liked and am worried about that because if I can't even do stars I'm worried I won't be able to do much else....I am somewhat dissapointed that it didn't turn out better but considering it is only my fourth cake I guess I shouldn't be so hard on myself. Practise, practise, practise! This is the first cake that is going to be seen by other people besides my friends and family I'm a little scared of what they will think! I didn't get paid for this as it was for my neighbour...I would like to get my name out there...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I could really use it!
I hope this posts kind of getting tired typing it out lol!
I think it's precious and you did a wonderful job on it.. give yourself a pat on the back and expect good things to be said to you by others about how nice the cake looks
WOW!!!
To be getting nice comments like that from you guys.......All of you do such amazing work and I look up to you all! I only hope I can be half as good as you guys! I have all of your work in the back of my head when I'm decorating I guess that's why I get frustrated because all of yours looks so perfect and I really wish mine would turn out that way!
Thank you all!
It's really cute, and well done! I bet everyone will be impressed.
As far as the stars go, don't worry about it! When I was taking classes most people had one or two things they were stuck on. Some could whip out a rose blindfolded and with one hand, but couldn't make a decent dot to save their life.
gibson: you did a GREAT job -- i like the blanket and hat. one note, however: i would have love to have seen the face of your bear clearer -- one of the challenges with cakes is that all we have left of them after we send them off into the world is our photos, so it's worth it to try to get good light on them for photos so all the detail (and your hard work!) can be captured in the picture.
keep up the great work! (and i like your avatar too -- very cute!)
Thank you so much ellepal! I should have tried to get a better picture....well I will from now on!
Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments!! Made my day!!
Hi,
I love this cake!! The blanket was a great idea! Imagine what you could do with a few lessons!!! Keep it up!!
Denise
Here I have been wondering why it sounded like people thought this cake was my idea.....I must have forgot this last time to add that I got the idea out a Wilton book because I had to type it three times before it would post. I apologize for people thinking this was my idea....I wish it were, I don't think I'm that creative! lol
I love it Gibson. I think you did a fantastic job.. The blanket looks so real.. Excellent job!

I think your bear is really cute, you did a good job!
To me getting a decent photo is a real challenge...thank goodness for digital cameras! I just made the mistake of covering some cake boards in white contac paper, doesn't work well at all because the flash on the white washes out the whole thing! I think the white blanket on the bear is probably the reason his face doesn't show very well.
I agree about the stars (I just posted a clown cake with stars), I can't get the release part of them right, so I kind of have tall stars.
Keep on bakin' and decoratin', you've got a great start! Janice
