Is there a way to preserve gumpaste figures? I know they last a long time, but I worry they will attract bugs if saved. Is there anything like a lacquer or something that that I can coat them with? I made a bunch of animals for my son's 2nd bday cake and I'd like to save them if possible (without attracting bugs).

My kids are in their 20's and I still have some gp figures from some of their earliest birthday cakes.

I didn't care about keeping them edible...obviously lolol.....so I sprayed them with a clear lacquer that you can find at any hobby/craft store.

If you store or display them out of direct sunlight they'll last for years. I have a lighted curio cabinet with nick knack type things and I keep the gp figures in there.
