Dropped a cake today. :(

It was the worst feeling ever. I was all done about to put it in the box for delivery. This cake was for my boss's daughters birthday. It took me about 20 minutes to work up the courage to call him and tell him. And now I have to face him tomorrow. Ugh, I'm not looking forward to facing him tomorrow.

I'm SO sorry! It happens to all of us. What did your boss say when you called him? Accidents happen. Try not to beat yourself up to badly. ***hugs***

I also know the feeling. I dropped a cake the night before a delivery. Started from scratch and worked through night until next morning. Delivered the finished cake. I have nightmares that I will drop another one.

You will be ok!!!!

Oh, Im sorry! That happened to me 2 weeks ago when I was doing a wedding dress cake for a bridal shower, and to make worse; a lady that has been criticizing me about my cakes was in attendance of this bridal shower and I was also a guest at this shower so I had to sit through the humiliation of every staring at my destoyed cake (still edible but what a mess!). I hope al goes well, if your boss isn't understanding that accidents happen then he is not very nice BUT most people are understanding. icon_smile.gif Feel better.

I dropped a multi-layered wedding cake as I was taking pictures of it...yes, I had to make another bunch of cakes *used dummy cakes for several tiers, as I had enough sheet cakes for the guests...talk @ pressure! But one thing you should remember: it is JUST cake icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Oh no! That is one of my worst nightmares/fears. Do you have time to fix it or make it again?

So sorry you're going through this, I hope your boss was understanding.

It happens, but what do you do about it when it does? In my case the second it happened I was on the phone to a bakery in town who produce really large sheet cakes and then called the Father of the Bride who is a friend of mine and told him what happened but that a replacement was on the way. Then I used what decorations I could salvage off of my cake and helped fix up the replacement. They were appreciative of the fact that they didn't have to deal with finding a new cake. The more you do to try and lessen the blow on something like this, the better they (and you) will feel about it.

It was a half sheet cake and I used 4-9x13s together so it just turned into mush basically. It was awful. He was understanding but definitely disappointment (he's not the nicest person). Kind of mean about it "well i'll just have to figure something out" Not looking forward to work tomorrow.

Ugh! Sorry this happened to you and even sorrier that it had to be a lousy acting boss it happened to. Hopefully he will realize that accidents do happen and one did/ Keep you chin up and keep on making your cakes.

Seeing it's your boss, could you possibly go buy a sheet cake at....gulp......Walmart, BJ's or Costco?

I know it's not something that we'd normally promote but if it'll help lessen the blow and keep your workplace peaceful....maybe he'd be less of a jerk about it.

Just a suggestion.

Well not as bad as I thought. However my
Best friend works the morning shift I work at night and she said he was really mad this morning. He's one of those people who get mad about everything. Even if it wasn't intention. Like dropping a cake. But he didn't really say anything to me about it. Just aske when I'm making him a red velvet. I gave him his money back he gave me for supplies. I know he's gonna give me crap about it forever. But like I said better than I thought
