I am in the process of baking 2 - 12" heart shaped tiers for my daughter's wedding cake. The first layer was not completely cooked in the middle. The second one I used the heat nails - took a long time to bake - outside seems burnt. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to properly bake the 12" cakes. (the oven has been calibrated)

Thank you for all responses,

Hmmm, I'm at a loss since you used a nail in the middle. Maybe turning your oven down about 15 to 20 degrees & just baking a bit longer??? I hope you get it figured out - it's so frustrating when you know it should work and doesn't!

How much batter r u putting in the pans? If you over fill them it will not bake properly. Ive never used the heart shaped pans but when I bake my 12' square or circle cakes it takes about an hour.
