Shards of Glass

I need to make some shards of glass....different widths (around 1/2" - 1 1/2" wide), different lengths (4" to 7")

The shards of glass do not have to be crystal clear. However, I do not want them to have any yellow tinge to them.

I would appreciate any help you can give to me on this. Have any of you done this before?

I say isomalt...pour it out on a cookie sheet and let dry and then crack like peanut brittle.

I have done it, with Isomalt. In fact, as I was carrying the pieces into the venue ona sheet tray, the DJ saw the shards and was very concerned, "OH my! What happened?"

You could also melt hard candies or lollipops on a silpat and then shatter it once it hardens.

Yup- should work perfectly with no yellow (just don't overcook). Be aware- the sugar shards can be a bit sharp too!
