Attaching spout and handle to Teapot cake

Is Royal Icing the best way to go?

That is what I did for my teapot cake. Worked well.

I let my fondant covered tea pot, handle and spout, sit out overnight to dry out a little, before I put all the pieces together with RI.

I inserted skewers into the spout and handle while the gumpaste was soft.

Depending how you make it..if you mold the spout around a lollipop stick and insert into a straw in the cake then attach with melted white chocolate inbetween then that should do the trick. I tell my students the reason I insert a lollipop stick into a straw it is because the straw is a tad bit bigger and less likely to tear a bigger hole for the spout weight pulling it down and you can get it adjusted the exact way you want it to look.

Thanks, Royal Icing was a huge fail!
I ended up shoving a popsicle stick in the bottom and placing it directly into the cake. So far so good!
