I want to color the batter for a cake different shades of purple. I'm wondering if the gel colors will change the flavoring of the batter. I've never done this technique b4 so any advice is greatly appreciated! icon_smile.gif

I have used the Americolor gels and they have not changed the taste of the batter. My kids love the inside of their cakes colored!

No, I've used Wilton colors and they worked just fine. You don't seem to need as much to color batter as you do icing or fondant.

i never have a problem with flavors..obviously if you put a ton of color in the batter then yeah but i think as long as u are not trying to make the batter black you'll be fine lol
