Luckily, as a 5 year old, he wont notice much difference between that and my attempt I'm hoping

Anyway, The person who made that cake said she used a mannequin head for the head but she could only get a female one which took a lot of building up. I decided to go and buy a mans head because I'd never build it up right and it would just look silly, but now my head has arrived I'm wondering what to do as it is massive! and I mean bigger than the average human head I'm positive. Here's a picture to show you the difference between the man and the woman heads I found on ebay..

You can tell theres quite a difference... do you think I'm gonna have to buy the woman head and just bite the bullet and TRY to make it look like a man head?? I dont know what to do with it... Although I'm sure my son wouldn't mind I'd be a bit embarrassed if it looked ridiculously out of proportion for his party!

I saw this one too and it to me seems like the face on this post is more manley too, but please what ever you do change the eyes...lol.. don't use it in the picture. But anyway I think that once you get fondant on it it would be fine just make sure you componsate for the larger head with cake shoulders to match, make sence? I think it will look fine. HTH

I know the cake isn't to be sold, but it's my understanding from other legal discussions on this forum that whether the cake is sold or not has no bearing on whether copyright infringement occurs.

I ask out of deep fear that I'll never be allowed to make a superhero cake! (Or any sweet, pop culture-reference cake, for that matter.)

I know that it is an infringement if you are making and profitting from what ever, (cake, sketch what ever) I don't think it is an issue, if it is it's my ignurance I guess.

I made my 3D Spiderman head with a regular mannequin foam wig head..It turned out fine...

I have no idea about the copyright, however I just look at it like there are hundreds of cakes with the theme online, so if none of those have been sued over the 10 years since the movie came out then I don't think I will be lol. I made a gorjuss cake recently and as there were no other cakes with the theme when I googled it I emailed them to ask for permission, if they'd said no I probably would have still made it but not posted it on the internet. I don't see why they should bother anyway, with cakes its not like you are reproducing something they make, around here I can't buy a spiderman cake in the shops, but even if I could I wouldn't be buying it lol. I'd rather have a plain cake than a supermarket one.

they sell a cake pan so that you can make spiderman and there isnt a copyright notice about reproduction on it. So why would it matter if you take the idea into your own hands?? Even if you were to sell it, maybe theres some kind of clause in the copyright that you can sue over something made of food lol.

Besides if your child is like mine... when they ask for a cake, they own just about EVERYTHING that has ever come out so i think i've payed my dues (and probably yours when it comes to spiderman) to make a cake lol
