Hi everyone! I'm completely new to cake making
But just wanted a few pointers about tin sizes etc.
I've attached a link and am setting myself a major challenge!
( may aswell go in at the deep end!) lol. It's for my
Fiance's birthday BBQ and doesn't really matter if it
Goes wrong as it's a pretty informal event with just family.

I have got the £50 note rice cake toppers and they are 6" by 3", so
I'm thinking I'll need four for the base ( total of 12" by 6") and
Two for the top money stacks. I don't know whether to get one tin
That will cover all the bits I need and then I can just cut into
The different segments or should I really buy separate tins?

Looking at the link it looks as if the money stacks are individual
And not one big cake.

Also, it will be a layer cake with jam and buttercream in the middle. I'm not sure what pan depth I should use either... A lot of the ones I've seen look
Really deep and I don't want it to turn out massive!

I'll also be using some Betty crocker mix as I don't have time to
Make it from scratch.

Any advice about any aspect of my challenge would be appreciated!

Looks like it is just a sheet cake with two smaller rectangle cakes on top. I would stick with just 2 layers of cake...that would give you 4 in tiers if you are using 2in high pans! Make sure you use a dam before adding your fillings and have fun decorating!!! Please post pictures~

Thanks for your reply icon_smile.gif so just to clarify, I need to buy two 12" by 12" sheet
Pans that are 2" high and put one on top of the other. Then i'll cut the extra rectangles off that I need for the two on top. Is that correct? What is a dam

U DONT NEED TO BUY 2 PANS JUST BUY 1 AND A DAM USE THE ICING AND PIPE AROUND THE BORDER OF THE CAKE SO THAT IT HOLDS IN THE MIDDLE FILLING

I guess I don't really need two, I was just thinking of

Again for the next but I guess if I put two in the oven at
The same time they may not cook properly. When I did a search
On " sheet pans" they are pricier than I thought... Can I just get
a regular square cake tin or is there a specific difference?

It all depends how you want to stack the cake..You can make a square cake and stack a few ontop or a rectangular pan...You will also need to get edible images made of the money as that is also what seems to be on the money stacks.This is a quite simple straight forward cake.Bake the main cake..bake and cut the induvidual stacks and ice them and add the edible images ontop and around the sides.
