Hi. I bake as a hobby and i a pretty new at this. A friend of mine wanted me to make some cookies for her niece sweet 15. The them is maquerade and she sent me a pic from Sweetopia website and clearly specify that she wanted white, purple, lime green and gold. I have done so far the purple and white and sent pics to her and she told me she was expecting something different. That the white looks so dead and the purple is too dark and she was expecting a "lavender" color. Is there a way that i can still do something about this? The order is for tomorrow and i still have to decorate the green and gold. I bought some disco dust which i have added already to them. Thanks for your feedback. I will not have time to bake and decorate this again. I have attached a pic.

I think your cookies look beautiful.
But if you want to add a little shine to the cookies you can spray the decorated cookies with lustre dust spray.
Or if you have time you can pipe a border and maybe 1 or 2 scroll patern on the cookies and add a little disco dust (there is a big discussion that these are not edible, but I still see people use disco dust for decoration). You can also use fine sanding sugar in the matching color instead of disco dust.

I think they look great. If they weren't specific about the shade of purple this is what I would have chosen as well so they get what they get.

SOME PEOPLE!
that IS lavendar...if she wanted it lighter she should've specified. and what is wrong with the white? it's white!
sometimes there are people that you just can't make happy. i think they look fine and tell her there's nothing you can do now since the shade wasn't specified to begin with

I think they're gorgeous. She should have nothing to complain about!

I agree that the cookies look great. It looks to me like the purple disco dust is making them look a lot darker than the icing. You could try a lighter color of lavendar. Maybe edible glitter (different from disco dust) has a lighter color. Or luster dust. Disco dust is non-toxic, but it is made out of plastic so your body can't digest it, it just goes through your system and comes out the other end (and you have, pardon the expression, sparkly poop).
If you're trying to lighten up these cookies and not make new ones, I agree with step0nmi.

I think they are just lovely! Not sure what her issue is...you could (unless she wants plain) add dots of the other cookie colors and then dust them...like put the green and lavendar dots on the white ones, etc...? Just an idea. Maybe do the rest in a lighter lavendar, and tell her its all you can do at this point...these look like they would have been work to roll and transfer to the cookie sheets, hope you being paid well! lol
Will they be displayed with each color separate? or all mixed together? Then 2 shades of lavendar would probably look awesome...put another picture out when its all complete! Don't forget too you sent her a picture and the colors may not have come through true to color either.
Good luck!

Thank you so much for all your comments. these are not a gift. I was planning to charge $25 a dozen althought i believe it is nothing after all the work an cost of materials. She is a friend of mine, so I am planning to ask for this amount to help me cover what i have spent, I do not know how much you guys charge but i would not do this for less than perhaps $3 each. Or maybe i am just too unexperienced and need to practices more cause this is really a large process. I have a full time job and I baked the cookied on wednesday, last night I decorated two dozens and tonight i am planning to decorate the remaining two and then tomorrow will pack them all in plastic bags and a ribbon.

You are exactly right!!!They are a tremendous amount of work and that is why most of us charge $3.00 each and up per cookie...I hate cookies personally but will do them if I am paid good enough...
