Hello - I have to do a baby shower cake next week and she wants a marble cake. I've never made this before and am having a hard time finding a good recipe (based on reviews). Anyone have a good Marble Cake Recipe?

Do you have a good vanilla cake recipe? That's all I use, I scoop out a bit of the batter from my vanilla cake (for an 8" cake I do maybe about 1/4 cup per layer), mix some cocoa powder in it and swirl into my vanilla batter. Gives it that chocolate kick without overpowering the delicate vanilla.

I've tried this recipe from Joyofbaking.com/marblecake.html, it was really good, but it didn't yield a large amount so you will have to make another batch if you are making a larger cake, but it is really good.
Marble Cake Recipe:
2 ounces (55 grams) bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped
1 tablespoon brewed coffee or espresso
2 1/4 cups (290 grams) cake flour
1 tablespoon baking powder<
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, room temperature
1 1/4 cups (250 grams) granulated white sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
3/4 cup (180 ml) sour cream or plain yogurt
1/3 cup (80 ml) milk

Really, as was said, all you need is a good vanilla/yellow cake recipe to begin with - then remove some (1/4 to 1/2 cup) of the batter, and add unsweetened cocoa powder and a couple of tablespoons of oil to that. Use a fork to lightly swirl dolaps of the chocolate batter through the vanilla. Use a figure '8' motion (make BIG sweeps) twice, then pull lines out to the edges. Don't over mix!

This particular marble cake has very easy steps, and is both delicious and unique! Chocolate mocha peanut butter.
