Hi everyone! I moved to Indiana 3 years ago so I'm still relatively new to the area. I'm even newer to cake decorating. Just wondering if anyone knows of a cake club or a place for classes. So far, I've taken the Wilton classes at Michaels. I am heading to Ms. B's Sweet Supplies today to check that out for tools and classes. I've heard of Country Kitchen in Ft. Wayne but haven't made it up that far yet. Someone mentioned Wilton headquarters is not too far away but I checked their prices and it's a little steep for me right now (ok, a LOT steep). Also, are there any cakers out there that just want to maybe meet up now and then to have a drink, swap ideas, chat, etc? It would be nice to have some local friends that share my hobby! I'm in Noblesville (central Indiana). Thanks and have an awesome day!
Mrs. B is a wonderful place. It is a little small and crowded but otherwise a good place. They have classes there as well. Also, I have a friend who taught me my WIlton classes but also does more indepth and higher level classes at home and in a rented kitchen. If you are interested in her info pm me and I will give you all that you need. Hope your trip is successful since it is a long drive from Noblesville to Speedway.
I am also in Indianapolis! What is Mrs. B?? I've never heard of that before! Jo Anne's or Michaels one, used to have a class and I'm pretty sure they still do.
I hear really good things about Ms. B! Apparently, they have everything you can think of and the staff is super friendly. But it is about 40 minutes away from me so I'm going to call ahead of time to check it out and see if they have what I need. I'm looking for a Damask side stencil. I don't want to drive all the way over there and be disappointed. Plus, I'm sure I'd just see something else I want and blow my budget.
I am also interested on this dress but have no idea. Would like to forum you guys
Thanks
Mrs. B's Sweets is a wonderful place. Also, if you join ICES, they have meetings several times a year across Indiana.
Marsha (owner of Ms. B's) is a VERY knowledgeable cake person and she's who I go to when I have a cake question. you will LUV her shop! http://www.msbssweetsupplies.com/
I'm just down the road from you (relatively speaking). I live 3 minutes from the intersection of I-465 and I-69, on the NE corner of Indy, just a stone's throw away from the Castleton Mall.
I always love getting together with fellow Hoosier Cc'ers, so I'm all for getting together sometime! (There's also a Starbucks within walking distance from me! Too easy, right?) LOL!
Can anyone say happy dance!!!! I am near Lafayette Indiana. Basically around the corner from you. Would love to met with you guys!!!! Let git er done I have tried contacting Indiana ICES several times. Can not get information at all????? Would love to pick you up and go see B's and have coffee with IndyDeb, what do you think???
For ICES info, see Marsha at Ms. B's. She will have ALL the info you need! She either is or was the president of the local chapter.
I'm flexible for getting together anywhere you all want. (P.S. School starts on 8-22 and my flexibility drops thru the toilet after that! LOL!)
dreamacres, I catered a wedding at the Lafayette Theater once. One of my favorite places!!! LUV the conversion they've done to it! Also, on facebook, I do a daily "On this day in history ...." thing and July 31 will have something about Lafayette!
nazarine, my favorite veue in Noblesville is the Forest Park Inn. Wow, that place is awesome and it has a GREAT kitchen!
ACK!!!! (waving arms wildly)
My husband works right by the Castleton Mall! His office is right across from the Michaels. How exciting! We have to meet for a coffee, wine, cupcake, something. Anything!
I'm in that Michaels about twice a week! (While on summer break from school, I'm madly building a crochet-projects inventory for a craft show in October that I'm going to be in.)
I am so glad I found this thread!! On July 1st, we moved to Noblesville, IN!!! My hubby had been doing week long business trips every other week since the beginning of the year to Carmel!! And they were not going to end any time soon!! On May 19th they his company offered to move us here. 6 weeks later and the moving truck was unloading our stuff in our new home!! So glad to all be together again for longer than a week!
We are still adjusting to the humidity and the extreme heat, but we are very happy here!! Are there any cake supply stores around here? Looking forward to checking them out!
IndyDebi-- I have to tell you... My hubby mixs up my frosting for me when I make cakes. I only use your recipe and he has noticed your name on the recipe. One of the first things he said in January when he was going on one of his trips was "Maybe I can go have lunch with IndyDebi!! I will let her know how great you think she is!!" He hears about all the great advice and knowledge you share with all of us here!! Thank you!!
I know! I use indydeb's BC recipe too! It's awesome!
Penguin, where are you in Noblesville? I'm off Howe Rd and 146th.

I am off of 169th and Hazel Dell!
That's so close! I took a look at your blog link too. My daughter also just turned 4 recently (May 12th). Now we HAVE to meet up. LOL!
Let me know when you decide to get together. Though I no longer decorate to speak of and live a couple of hours north I'd love to get together w/fellow decorators.
I love Ms. B's! It is a bit of a drive but the staff is sooooo helpful and friendly that it is worth it. I need to go up again but I always tend to spend more than I plan on... somehow I can not restrain myself when all those cool tools, molds and goodies are right there.. I would love to meet up with fellow hoosier cakers! School starts here 8/16 so maybe a Sunday afternoon at Starbucks near IndyDebi???
Meetinf up sounds perfect!!! School starts on 8/17 for my older one. I would love to meet up! That would be so much fun!!
Where are cake supply store that are great around here? I know I can look in the phone book, but that won't tell me the places that are GREAT! Or worth the trip! Please share your knowledge!!
Thank you in advance!!!
Indiana people you MUST get to Ft. Wayne and visit Country Kitchen Sweet Art. It's like a cake decorators Disney World I visit Ms. B's a lot too...great ladies in there, but CKSA is much bigger and less expensive on a lot of items. It's my fav place for supplies. I gladly drive the 2 hours to go there in person!
I wanna go there too!!!!
I'm game for meeting at the Starbucks. Weekends are a little rough for me because my husband works Friday/Saturday/Sunday 13 hour night shifts. So, he gets home, goes to bed, wakes up at 1pm and leaves for work again by 4. But if we can meet between noon-3, I'm in!
oh happy dance sounds like cake buddy date!!! Have any unwanted cake tools maybe we can have a cake toy swap met???
Fellow Hoosier here...only I'm more north... Wabash... which is about 1 hour from Country Kitchen...you ladies need to take a road trip north...and spend 1/2 a day in there...you'll love it... I've been several times and I'm still finding new stuff...I get lost in the cookie cutter section!
I THINK that Country Kitchene hosts one Indy ICES meeting a year (Oct?) that includes a tour and a shopping spree for members. I've never been able to attend because I always had a catering on that weekend but I understand it's pretty awesome!
Country Kitchen holds at least 2 ICES events (if I'm recalling correctly)... there was one in June or July...and should be one towards late fall early winter....
I have to get to Country Kitchen because it has taken on legendary status in my head. I even had a dream about it. I walked in the door, bells went off and I won some contest by being the 1,000,000th customer. They told me I had 5 minutes to fill up this giant cart with as much stuff as I could. LOL! I woke up and was actually bummed when I realized it was a just a dream. Oh man. I need a vacation.

I'm in Peru, only about 20 minutes west of Wabash. And by the way, all of you Central Indiana bakers, I'm jealous. I wanna meet too. But I can't. I have cakes every weekend for the next 3 weekends and school starts for my oldest on the 16th.
Ok, just revisited this post. I would love to get together with all of you ladies. WHat ever time works for you. I am going to watch this post.
