Hey guys,

I'm hoping to try doing a frozen buttercream transfer for the first time tonight, but I haven't been able to find any wax paper (I live in England). I have some greaseproof paper, which seems to be the nearest thing that we can buy in supermarkets, but I'm not sure that this will be adequate and I was wondering whether any of you guys had any experience of using it? Apparently it's similar to baking parchment, but differs because it doesn't have a non-stick coating, so I'm worried that my icing will stick to it and I'll just end up with a lot of mess and wasted effort. Would clingfilm work if I pulled it taut over the surface that I'll be using to ice on top off, or will that stick too?

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find anything when I did a search.

Thanks!

You can do them on parchment paper or even plastic cling wrap if you take it down smooth.

If you want to test it out, pipe something in a solid color, and freeze it. The key is you need something that will release. After it's hard see if it will come off the paper. that way you don't have to worry about messing a piece that you spend hours on. icon_wink.gif
