A friend of mine wants a homecoming cake to surprise her husband for R&R, their favorite movie is "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" so she wanted the cake to have something to do with that movie or at least Hawaii. It has to be "manly" though so she was thinking to maybe add poker into it cause he loves to play that. I am sooooo clueless on what to do for this and I have to make it next week. I would LOVE if anyone could help me with some ideas on this one because I am stumped. Thanks icon_smile.gif

Oooh! Me me me!

My husband and I love that movie, so here are his suggestions (he gets a little carried away):

1. Guy hanging off cliff somehow.
2. A naked dude standing in a living room saying "I've got a surprise for you!"
3. Something to do with the Dracula musical puppets at the end of the movie
4. A dude on a surfboard, maybe with coral in his leg.
5. A guy holding a giant chess piece, possibly in a provocative manner.

My suggestions are probably considerably more tame, especially considering the vulgarity of the movie:
1. A cake that looks like the shirt that Aldous wore than Sarah gave him that he hated, complete with red wine stains on it.
2. Something like looks like a whole roast pig with the words "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! AAAHHHH!" piped on the cake board somewhere and a knife sticking out of it.

I'm trying to think of something that doesn't require a lot of modeling and sculpting, but it's not like a cartoon where you can just make a character or draw something. If I come up with anything else I'll let you know.

I like the poker table idea. What if you did that with cards lying on the table, say a full house: An ace of pineapple, an ace of palm tree, and an ace of coconut, plus a two of palm tree and a two of lei. Or....some other suit--grass skirt? surfboard? volcano?

How about a poker table cake with a roast pig in the middle, then have a length of (fondant?) crime scene tape around the pig and write (edible marker?) "CRIME SCENE: SCENE OF THE CRIME".

HAA! I love that movie. I tried to incorporate the request and SammieB's suggestion!

Thanks so much guys for all your awesome ideas, she loved the pig idea so much that she nixed the poker part and we just went with that and a strip of crime tape. I just posted the pics. I'm still very much a newbie but think it turned out well. Thanks again!! icon_biggrin.gif
