Coiled snake help!!!

Can someone please tell me how the get the effect of a coiled snake, what size cake pans to use, how to do the scales. Can someone please help me with this!!!! I have a snake cake to do for Sunday!!!

I just used one bundt pan. Cut it in half evenly. I did not level the cake. I wanted it bumpy so it would make it look more natural. The snake head I used a 6 inch round cake pan. Cut a small centre out of the middle and then in half to give it a "C" shape. Then molded it a bit to give it more of a diamond head. It wasn't perfect but he loved it. That is all that mattered!
I should of painted it yellow instead of orange...another mistake but my nephew didn't care...so that is fine with me. Next time..yellow for sure!
