Hi guys.

I have a question for bakers with a storefront.....
What do you do with your cupcakes at the end of the day? Do you get rid of them, keep them for the next day, use them for cake balls???? I am extremely curious on this. How do you guys put out the freshest cupcake and not lose your butt on the cupcakes that you don't sell at the end of the day? Thanks everyone!

Believe it or not, the best cupcake place in town sells out before they even close. I think she has improved on that. The other 3 that aren't so good, well I'm not quite sure what they do, but I know one of then is at 75% off by the end of the day...and she has a lot left over.

The cupcake place by us sells out by 2:00pm.

The place by my husband's grandma offers day old cupcakes for $1. There is usually only about 2 dozen left at the end of the day if any.

Yes..It is all in the marketing..A popular cupcake place here also is sold out by 1:00 daily and they don't rebake. They are lined up all the time and honestly I don't know why because their cupcakes are not that good but that is besides the point...They market well and teach people to want their cupcakes and if they want them...they have to get there early or they are sold out!!

Maybe you could donate the leftovers to the shelter, retirement home, church etc...

I always wondered the same...I think I would get with your local homeless food kitchen and donate them! I am sure they would LOVE having delicious cupcakes to serve!

I'm not in business, but If you are consistently left with a large number left over every day, then I'd rethink how many are being baked every day. I would keep track of how much of what are selling when. Maybe you will find a day of the week that you have more sales and a day you have less, and you can adjust your baking on those days? Another thought would be to maybe bake less, and if you see by a certain time you are running low, you can always bake some more?

I think it is better to sell out and turn people away than to always have left overs.
