I have never been known for my upper body strength, and I have sat at a computer for the last ...uhhh... 11-15 years lol so I have shoulder and wrist issues from time to time. Besides just wanting a Kitchenaid Pro mixer just to have one I was hoping to use it to mix the MMF batter? Has anyone ever done this and is there anything different I should do? Not do? Any suggestions would be extremely helpful!
I also use mine for MMF. It's also great for making American buttercream, as well as the Swiss and Italian meringue buttercreams. I got it as a retirement gift from work. Best gift I could have received!
I use mine for MMF too...on the first or second speed with the dough hook. It works great. I've been doing it for four years now and the mixer's held up well the whole time.
I microwave my marshmellows and water as recommended. Then I transfer the mix to a well greased ka bowl and my flavoring. Using my dough hook I add the sifted powder sugar a little at a time until it forms a ball. I then turn it out and add sifted ps until it is smooth and not sticky.
ah man, don't tell my hubby I can use my mixer lol.... he's gotten really good and kneading!
I burned out my KA mixer after making mmf for 3 years. Now I have a Globe and love it! It makes my fondant all in the mixer!
So glad to know the details too! Thanks everyone! I now know I really must invest in a mixer!
When I do make my mmf, (I've been purchasing it lately) I make it in the kitchen aid, then turn it out and knead in the last few cups of sugar.
I'm old school. Really old school!
I don't mix anything without my kitchenaid, including gumpaste and MMF. So far I've only burnt out one KA. I love both the Professional 6 quart and my baby the 4 quart mixer Classic, I think it is 4 quarts(LOL)!
