My son is turning three this month and I cannot wrap my head around a good idea for his cake. He LOVES the Justice League. There was an old Super Friends show that was on in the 70s and 80s and he watches it every chance he gets. While Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are the main characters, he loves all of the supporting cast (Aqua Man, Apache Chief, The Wonder Twins etc). I'm trying to steer away from just one character because he loves them all.

I've had a few ideas but haven't had that "aha!" moment that will actually inspire me to make something great.

Anyone? I'd be forever grateful!

If you're really ambitious you could do a buttercream transfer using one of these images as a template:

What might be cool, but perhaps won't take actually having to draw/mold so many characters is doing a cake that has each hero's symbol placed randomly on it...the symbols are really recognizable too!

Hello! If you are making this superhero cake our if a bakery is you can make/have them make the cake and simply go to a party supplies store or walmart and purchase the figures there and at that point you can place them on the cake according to how you wish them to be!

Thanks everyone. Jan, those give me a headache! LOL. I thought about doing squares/rectangles of images like they do in comic books but I can't imagine that much painting the day before the party. Believe it or not, I've never done a FBC transfer. Maybe it's time to start.

The idea of getting plastic figures is refreshing but I can't get past the idea that it's cheating. LOL! icon_biggrin.gif

How about using JanH's idea but doing an edible image? Most supermarket bakeries will do it for around $8 for an 8x10 sheet. I did this for my son's 3rd birthday the year that the Incredibles came out. I just took a print out of the "I" symbol and had my supermarket bakery print out a sheet for me; then I went home and make a rectangular cake and made a shell border in a coordinator color and added the edible image right in the center. The kids thought it was awesome and it wasn't too much work for me. Now, if it is for a paying customer, keep in mind copyright issues. Good luck.

My great-nephew loved the Super Hero Squad. (similar in that it's a group of super heroes) I made him a small 6" cake to blow out a candle on and then decorated cupcakes with toppers showing 4 of his favorite characters. Here's how they looked:

Maybe you could work around something like that.
