Custom modules exist for phpBB that allow this feature, for example:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=1435355

I've never used that particular module so I don't know how well it works, but according to the documentation it is configurable to allow users to edit their own custom titles.

Why don't you set up your own site Jason, and set it up to how you like and to your standards?

I think that is an EXCELLENT idea, and just what I was thinking! It could be a site for people who want cake business advice from someone who does not make cakes. I wonder how many people will sign up? There's got to be a huge underserved population of those kind of people out there. I think we've found your niche for you, Jason.

Jason Kraft is a very talented caker who knows his stuff including the ins and outs of caking/bakery business.
He is very quick to share good and sensible advice, and he does it humbly.

You'd do well go be kind to Jason, grasshoppers.

May the cake fork be with you!

Oh yeah, and he already has his own cake site!

Just sayin'

Is he a baker? Personally, if I could just decorate and not bake, I'd be in heaven! LOL!

Be careful cakers and cakettes, this could spark another, wait, what was the response given me in another thread, oh yes, "Intersting Debate" and the report as bad post button will be used in full force. icon_lol.gif

So tread lightly, or better yet. I G N O R E! thumbs_up.gif Move on to a more intersting thread that is about what this site is for, CAKING! Not titles.

WOW....personally I find comments like these to be way more offensive than the business advice that Jason_kraft posts.

Just so we're clear, which posts are the ones that you find offensive?

Thread Starter
When network effects are involved (as they are with online forums) it is often better to leverage the existing dominant players instead of setting up shop on your own, especially if the product involved is outside your core competency.

I have neither the desire nor the inclination to run my own online forum at this point, which is why I participate here. I thought of a potentially interesting and fun new feature that might benefit CC so I posted it here in the Suggestions forum -- I'm not sure why the thought of allowing custom titles has sparked a barrage of personal attacks against me, but I do find it amusing and look forward to future contributions from my fan club. icon_wink.gif

And FWIW I do not bake or decorate cakes. I started a bakery business with my wife, and she does all the baking and decorating (along with our intern) while I manage the business side (accounting, procurement, customer service, sales, marketing, deliveries, and legal). That's why I typically only participate in threads that include aspects of the business side.

I have to agree with tokazodo and lorimarie definitely getting a bit catty on CC lately! Rather unexpected and disappointing.

A business person with invaluable advice when asked for it. Caker, no.

There are plenty of people posting on the business site who obviously do not own businesses. Jason only posts in his areas of expertise.

Some of us actually prefer sharing in the serious business posts where the information is geared to the professionals who want to learn from the experience of others in similar situations.

Jason, I enjoy your posts. You do a great job staying on the subject when you are personally attacked on all sides. Sometimes I wonder why you try to make a valid point when the message will never be understood.

I can see how the names can be misleading. Mine says Newbie because I have made very few comment on the forum. I have been baking and decorating cakes for 20 years. If someone read a comment by me they might think I am new to decorating and baking because it says....Newbie
