Custom titles?

Is it possible to allow users to change their titles (i.e. Forum Fanatic) in their user profile?
No, because the title depends on how many posts you have, so it's automatic.

Sorry, I should have been clearer...my suggestion was to modify the forum software so users can choose their own custom titles. icon_smile.gif

I think the only way to get custom titles on a phpbb forum is for the admins to enter them individually as the users request them. There's a little too much traffic and too many members here to make that really feasible.

I see what you mean, now, jason_kraft (I'm nothing if not slow!). Not a bad idea, either. I'm posting like crazy just to get out of the "Forum Addict" category - I don't like the way it sounds, even if it's true. But "Fabulous Caker" or "Dessert Diva" is SO much nearer the mark!

Is there not enough scope for control in being able to choose your own username and and use 225 characters for a signature?

That's what I was thinking. icon_confused.gif

But if such a thing was implemented, I could only hope that "Princess Sparklypants" was one of my choices - because that would be awesome.

That's a valid point. I'm not a big fan of signatures myself though (I think they break the flow of information when reading a thread), and I'd prefer not to change my username every time I want to change my title.

Custom modules exist for phpBB that allow this feature, for example:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=1435355

I've never used that particular module so I don't know how well it works, but according to the documentation it is configurable to allow users to edit their own custom titles.

I think we should only be permitted use "Princess Sparkleypants", only if "Cowboy Glitterbuns", is an option too. icon_wink.gif

Oh my gosh, you get too many creative people together with too much time on their hands and see what starts to happen?!

Why don't you set up your own site Jason, and set it up to how you like and to your standards?

Wow! It's like you guys can read my mind or something!!! My very own psychic friends network, and I don't have to pay $3.99/min. or nuthin'! Woot!

Careful though, someone might report you to Dionne Warwick for copyright infringement or something. LOL!
